The Hunter: Book Two In The Hunted Trilogy

Chapter Seventeen

"Ace," Sally's ghost screamed when she arrived at Lilly's cabin . Ace and the pack had arrived at Lilly's earlier that day and were settling in, "Ace!"

"What is it?" Ace asked coming out of the kitchen and into the hallway that lead to the door, "how's Domonic doing?"

"Not good!" Sallys face was worried, "Sapmson put silver in Domonics blood and he's letting it slowly kill him!"

"How long do we have?" Ace asked immediately on guard.

"A week...." Sally frowned, "a month at the most."

"We have to get moving on these plans!" Ace growled, "We can't waist another second sitting here well our Alpha and friend dies!"

"What if we send Lilly?" Sally suggested, "she could heal Domonic in a second!"

"Sampson would put more silver in Domonic," Ace frowned, "making his death like yours Sally!"

"I'll stay with him.." Sally disappeared sadly.

Ace sat down cast and shaken. After hearing Janaces screams and then what Sally told him his whole mind wanted to shut down, but he couldn't do that. Sampson had to pay for what he'd done to Aces family and the pack, that's all there was to it. Ace stomped to the back room where the adult pack members sat around a now sleeping Susan, who had been healing very well.

"Hey Ace," Josh turned to face Ace, "how's Domonic?"

"Not good," Ace explained everything that Sally had told him, "and now he's letting the silver kill Domonic."

"How long do we have?" Luke asked.

"And why not send Lilly to heal him now that we have the spell?" Marrium

"A week," Ace looked down cast, "a month at the most. And because Sampson will make him die faster and more painfully!"

The room went silent as Susan stirred and Ace began to hum a soft lullaby to calm Susan. He smiled to see that her peach skin tone was returning to her body. The whole pack jumped when Menace walked in.

"Ace!" Menace voice was frantic.

"What is it?"

"Hunters sir! Right outside! And they're approaching fast!"

"Pack get outside keep the pups behind us! And one of you stay with Marrium and Susan!!"

The pack headed out the door well a banshee watched over Marrium and Susan. Once outside Ace saw the severity of the situation. Almost half of the hunters had to be there and they had surrounded the cabin. The pups quickly hid behind the older members as Sampson came to the forefront of his hunters. Sampson smiled as the whole pack began to crumble under Sampsons gaze.

"You are not our Alpha!!" Josh shouted and soon every pack member did the same. The pack all stood up tall glaring at their alphas captor.

"Domonic is our Alpha!!" Everyone yelled.

"And," Sampson grinned evilly the packs resistance not fazing him, "he is dieing!"

"Domonic..." The pups that had grown up with Domonic whined.

"You're a monster!!" Menace growled.

"I see their lies have turned you Menark," Sampson sneered, "just like your father!"

The hunters glared and became angry when the recognized Menace. Menace hid his sibling behind him trying to calm their shakes. Each was scared to death of what Sampson could do as they had seen it over and over as hunters. Menace realized his mistake but didn't back down.

"Your lies deceived Sampson!" Menace growled, "you would have had me killed in cold blood just for being bitten in the line of duty! Just like you killed my parents! And you've would have killed my siblings as well!"

"You all became wolves!" a hunter yelled "you all deserved to die!''

At this Menace hid his siblings even farther behind him trying to keep them safe. The two shook worse as fear filled their very being. Menace took a protective stance over the two.

"If you wish for blood," Menace taunted knowing his life was on the line, "then kill me! Can you kill a friend John!?"

"Menace get back!" Ace shouted as a blond boy rose his pistol at Menace but didnt shoot, clearly he was the boy called John, then cursed himself for speaking.

"So," Sampson grinned, "that's where you went. You betrayed us and become one of the pack! A werewolf!!"

"You were born one!!" Ace howled, "I saw you shift the night you murdered Sally!!"

Chaos filled the hunters. Shouts of "Liar" came at every direction. Menace, Who still hadn't moved, growled at the way Ace was being treated. Ace again turned to tell Menace to back away when a loud bang echoed and menace fell. His siblings fell to their knees beside him already in tears.

"You'll pay for this one day Sampson!!" Ace called as the hunters began to disappear into the trees, "one day you'll regret everything you've done to this pack! And you'll pay with your life!"

"Alpha..." Menace voice was weak, "Ace..."

"What's is it menace?" Ace kneeled beside Menace.

"Please protect my siblings... The hunters will want to kill Laura and Paul if they can."

"I promise," Ace said, his heart breaking at his inability to heal his old teachers son, because Menark would have tried at least, "you lived up to you name today. You are a little Menace!"

Menace smiled and soon went limp his last breath leaving his lips and his skin went pale. Ace shook with anger and shifted, howling in agony at the sky.
