I knocked on my cousin door waiting for her to open it. "Who is it? "

"Rell " she opened the door.

"Where your ass been at ? I ain't seen you in a minute. " my older cousin Tae said letting me in.

"I know I ji like been m.i.a. but I came to stay with you for a while."

"What you do now ? " she asked putting her hand on her hip.

"What you mean ? "

"Rell you only come over here and spend the night when you in some shit . And more then likely whatever happened your crazy ass caused. "

"You petty moe. "

"I'm not petty. I just know you like the back of my hand. I know you better than your mother know you. So spill it." Which was true. If it was one person I could talk to about anything it would have to be her.

"I got niggas looking for me round my way."

"Who Rell ? "

"Lyric's brother. " She glared at me.

"The fuck you do? "

" They started it. "

"What did you do to her? They not just goin come looking for you for no reason at all." she sighed.

"Basically I got Nana and her peoples to jump Lyric but only cause her brothers jumped me. "

"The fuck is you talking about ? "

"Do you need a hug ? Cause something seems off. Why would you do that Rell ? You stay on some get back shit wIt your childish ass. " she looked at me like " the fuck " then pushed past me.

"I'm tired of y'all mf's giving a fuck about her. She ain't give a fuck about me. " I snapped.

"One thing for certain you will not disrespect me in my house. You can leave. "

"Sorry damn." I mumbled

"That's what I thought. Now look I'm sure anyone who knows the history of you and Lyric's relationships has said to you that you deserved that ass whipping. You lucky they didn't kill your ass. You got to learn how to stop putting your hand on these females. I'm not trynna wear black anytime soon"

"Seriously Rell. You turning out to be just like - . " I stopped her before she could even speak his name.

"Don't you say it" I said feeling my anger take over.

"See, look at you getting mad. You know it's true. You've watched your father put your mother through hell. So for you to turn around and be Just like the man-" she paused shaking her head before continuing "Is mind blowing. I love my uncle and you know I do but you know he wasn't shit for how he treated y'all and I would just hate to see you end up like him."

"I'm nothing like him. He abused my mother. She was helpless. I never abused Lyric. We fought, there's a difference. I may have always started the fight but she never not hit me back . "

"Regardless you put your hands on a female who you know your way stronger than. How many of those fights did she win ? " I didn't reply. "Exactly Rell. "

"I hear you but look doe I'll be in the basement if you need me. " I said trying to get away from this conversion at the moment. I didn't come here to hear her mouth.

"You know I'm telling you the truth. " She yelled while I walked down stairs.
She knows talking about my dad is a touchy subject. Me and that nigga will never have a relationship. I lost all respect for him along time ago.

*Flashback*

" Ramona why you just getting in here with my fucking kids ? " my dad asked my mom as soon as we walked in the door.

"They were hungry so we made a stop for food ."

"If that's the case why when I called you ain't answer the phone."

" I left my phone in the car while we ran into the Mid Atlantic. "

"So why you ain't just call me back then ? "

" Leon it's not that deep. Plus I definitely called back and it went straight to voicemail. "

"Don't make me fucking smack you. Stop playing with me Mona cause you dead ass lying. Let me find out you got my kids running around with your ass while you doing dirt. "

"Rell take Monica in the kitchen while I talk to daddy. "

"Okay. Come on Moe so we can eat. " I grabbed her hand and walk into the kitchen as my parents continued to argue.

We sat down and started eating. I noticed my sister looking down.
"What's wrong baby ? " that's my nickname for her.

"I no like when they fight. It make me sad. "

"Its okay baby. Just eat then we can go watch a movie in my room and maybe if mommy let us we can get some snacks to. "

"Okay. Can we watch Home ? "

"Anything you want baby."

" I'm not lying. " I heard my mom yell.

"Man look, who the fuck you yelling at." My dad snapped at her. Then me and Moe jumped from hearing a glass break.

"Stopppp please Leon. I'm not lying. " my mom screamed " Noooooo"

"Wait right here baby." I told her as I got up to see what was going on. "

"Don't leave me Rell. "

"Just eat baby." I walked into the room to see my father choking my mom.

"Dad please stop. " I yelled running over to him pulling on his arm.
"Dad please let her go. We really did just go get food and she did leave her phone in the car. "

He looked at me wide eyed before dropping my mother. "I'm sorry man. " was all he said before getting his keys and leaving out the house.

Monica came out the kitchen after hearing my dad leave. "Mommy you bleeding. " she said touching my mother's lip. My mother broke down crying.

I sat next to her holding her hand in mines . "You guys shouldn't have to see this and I'm sorry. " he kissed my hand.

" Ma It's okay. Please stop crying. "

"No cry mommy please cause you make me cry. " Moe said letting tears fall as she stood in front of my mother.
"I'm sorry baby. " she wiped her face. "Mommy is fine, I promise. Don't cry. "

"I love you ma."

"I love you to mommy. "

"I love y'all more. " she said pulling us into her chest "

My father ain't shit and I don't care what anybody got to say about it I will never be him!
