It was really late. And cold. There was a biting wind, making me wish I had a coat and I wasn't wearing shorts that barely made it to mid thigh. They're shorts meant for running, they aren't going to be long. The moon was straight up in the sky, clouds covering most of it. I was in the exact spot the rusty minivan with the Maine lisence plates would've been if it were here. But it wasn't. It was completly deserted. There were no lights in the little gas station and the single gas pump had an out of order sign on it.
Knowing I would be able teleport here with my idetic memory, I teleported back to the roof of the institute, those initials carved in to the roof on my mind.
It was slightly warmer here. There wasn't as much wind. My eyes had closed on the way over. I opened them. Aiden, Will, Avery and Rylie were huddled together about ten feet away.
"Finally." Avery stuttered. "Let's get out of here." She walked over to me and took my hand. Will came on my other side and took my hand on his.
"Don't you have to take Rylie?" I asked him.
"She can hold my hand and Aiden can just put his hand on my shoulder. No big deal." He shrugged. "Anything to hold your hand."
I felt the same way. His touch, a brush of the skin warmed me on the cold night.
"So am I really teleporting everyone?" I asked out loud.
"It looks like it." Rylie said. "You can do it."
I shook my head after Aiden and Rylie were ready, and thought of the lisence plate and prayed that I wouldn't end up at that same abandoned house with the mountain bike and the stairs and the-
It was to late. I teleported, thinking about the mountain bike and the lisence plate at the same time.
I was at the house. There were people holding my hands, which meant we didn't get split up. My eyes opened, and I looked around. It was definitly the same house. The mountain bike was there. But there were only two people with me. Avery and Will.
I let out a curse. "They must be in Maine." I said."What happened...?" Avery asked in confusion. "Where are we?"
"I had accidentally stopped here earlier when I teleported. I had sensed something. I don't know how... but I was hoping we wouldn't end up here as I was teleporting and we did. I think the others are in Maine."
"You sensed something? What does that even mea-"
"I feel it, too." Will said. He was looking at something farther off. Like his eyes saw something we couldn't see. All of a sudden he jerked his head to the stairs. He was acting strange, but he did back up my idea about sensing something. Which made me feel good.
Then he shook his head. "We have to go. Make sure the others are there." He took my hand and put his hand on Averys shoulder and teleported us both out of there. For a second I wondered what it would be like to have my own Flair and not have to deal with wondering about who has a Flair, what their Flair is and can I use it.
Then we landed at the gas station and the cold knocked me back to reality.
The two others, Rylie and Aiden, we're not in sight but the gas station light was on."Come on." I said. "They must be inside."
I walked past Will and Avery, who both hadn't been here before and we're studying everything around them. Avery looked close to shivering as she ran ahead inside while Will looked so hot he could shed a couple of layers. His brow was furrowed as if he were worried, or curious about something. But he said nothing and walked beside me, taking my hand as we walked.
"So, when was your last Canada trip for syrup?" I asked.
"About four days ago, maybe five. I had decided I had to take a break from worrying about you waking up or not. I took this book, I can't remember what it was called and went to this amazing café in Ottowa, Canada. I can't remember the name of that either. But they had the best maple hot chocolate I had ever tasted. I should take you there, once. We actually aren't so far from it, now that we are in Maine." He said. We had arrived at the Gast station glass door. My hand was on the door, but he stopped me.
