A Teddy Bear's Prayer

Alone I watch,
As I sit.
Here I stay
Ever vigilant.

A gentle hug
We once shared
A soft cuddle or a kiss,
Became my most precious moments.

From youth to young adulthood,
There I stayed a fond memory,
But more I remained
As a loyal friend.

I was present
As the first tooth was pulled.
I was squeezed
As someone received their first loss.

Caressed when the path was lost
Or one was lead astray,
There I was
Here I will always remain.

Perhaps forever will come and go
Without it ever inching close to me,
For here I am for you
For what I hope to be forever.
