Hey guys! Finally, after waiting for so long, here is chapter four! I was completely stuck on what to do, when somebody messaged me and gave me some ideas on what to do next. For that reason, I've dedicated this chapter to babigurl16. Thank you so much again! I honestly don't know what I would do without that little push to get going on this story. So, without furtherado, chapter 4! Also, I'm sorry if it is kind of short.... -___-

CHAPTER 4

KLAUS

After we had our whiskey, Caroline went to bed and I decided to go for a walk. I couldn’t sleep, especially if Kol was right and Silas isn’t a myth and he’s a force to be reckoned with. I shook my head and closed the door behind me before leaving and walking down the street. I couldn’t think that way, especially with Caroline with me. I sighed and was just thinking to myself when I finally realized where I was; in a forest. I frowned slightly unsure of how I even got here, especially because I don’t recognize this forest, or this part. I had turned around and was about to leave when I heard a cry. I turned back around and with curiosity, I followed the sound. After a minute of walking towards the sound, I realized that it was a baby’s cry. Walking at a quicker pace, I arrived to where the baby was lying on a tree stump in a light blue blanket. I walked to the baby and I saw a name sewed onto the blanket. It said “Ryder.” So his name must be Ryder. I picked him up and he immediately stopped crying and his tear soaked beautiful green eyes stared at me. I felt my heart go out for him. I didn’t know what to do. Should I leave him here in case his parents come to look for him? I shook my head. Of course they wouldn’t, I mean they left him here crying. I sighed and stared into the green curious eyes.

“Hi Ryder.” I found myself murmuring. I blinked in surprise as he cooed. I smiled slightly and headed out of the woods and towards the apartment, but stopped about halfway there. I should check with the police to make sure that he wasn’t missing or anything. Quickly making up my mind, I held the baby closer to me and walked to the police station. I got there and after using compulsion to get to a computer, I looked on the missing person’s database. To my surprise, he wasn’t listed there. I looked down at Ryder frowning slightly. How could people just abandon him? I stood up and in that moment he cooed, and I knew that I couldn’t get rid of him, no matter how much I tried to resist. Maybe, just maybe, this was the caring side Carolina wanted to see in me. I smiled slightly and with that thought, I walked back to the apartment.

CAROLINE

I was sitting on the couch surfing the TV for something to watch when I heard the door open. I looked up and I saw Klaus enter with something in his hands. My curiosity peaked and I got up and walked to him and saw that in his hand was a baby. I cooed and took the wideeyed baby from him and started to baby talk.

“Ooooh! Hi there!” I said. Klaus chuckled and I held the baby as I looked at Klaus curiously.

“Why do you have a baby?” I asks, not suspicious that he stole the baby or anything, because I knew he wouldn’t do that. He smiles and looks at the baby with a protectiveness I've only seen him have over me.

“I found him in the woods when I went on a walk. I checked to see if he was missing or anything, but he wasn’t. in fact, no policemen say that there was even a birth the past month.” Klaus said with knitted eyebrows. I frowned slightly but turned my attention back to the baby who was laughing as I bounced him.

“So we’re keeping him? What’s his name?” I asked not removing my eyes from him. I heard Klaus walk closer and I just stayed where I was. With this baby, Klaus unknowingly is showing such a caring and soft side of him that I just love. I know that if Elena and Bonnie were to see this, they would understand everything, and possibly even begin to accept the possibility of Klaus and I. That’s when I realized that we weren't even dating… However, I spoke too soon.

“Yes we are and his name is Ryder as it says on his blanket. I have a question for you love.” Klaus said wrapping an arm around my waist. To both our surprise, instead of pulling away like I usually did, I actually relaxed into him.

“Yeah?” I replied staring at Ryder as he played with his blanket and observed everything around him with large green eyes.

“Will you do the honors and be my girlfriend?” he whispered in my ear causing me to shiver slightly. He chuckled and I let out a small laugh of happiness. I turned my head and looked him dead in his gorgeous eyes.

“Yes.” I replied and kissed him lightly and passionately. But first, we need baby stuff. I think that is the first thing on our agenda tomorrow morning.” I said then yawned. He chuckled but nodded and took Ryder back from me. I tried to take him back, but a wave of tiredness swept over me and I slowly and obviously very tiredly made my way to the bedroom. Before I closed the door, Klaus called my name.

“Yeah Klaus?” I said peeking my head out the door. He smiles as he looks at me with excitement.

“We’re going back to Mystic Falls tomorrow, with Ryder. So baby shopping is going to have to wait until we return tomorrow. Goodnight my love.” Klaus said. I smiled lovingly at him and gave him a slight wave.

“Goodnight Klaus. Goodnight my little monkey.” I said speaking to Ryder before I went into the room and closed the door with a wide smile.

I stretched and felt an arm around my waist. My eyes fluttered open and instead of seeing Klaus, I saw a baby. That’s when I remembered what happened last night. I smiled and picked up Ryder before getting out of bed and into the kitchen. I took out some milk, poured some into a small cup that I found, and put it in the microwave to heat it up. As I was waiting for it to heat up, I was playing with Ryder who was shrieking with laughter. I laughed and the microwave beeped and I took the milk out. I looked through the things Klaus brought and I saw that he brought a water bottle that could be used like a bottle. I poured the milk into it, and I fed Ryder. After I finished, I knew I needed to burp him. I took a rag and put it over my shoulder and proceeded to do just that.

“You’re such a natural love.” I heard Klaus say from the living room. I turned and walked to him smiling as I still burped Ryder.

“I helped babysit a lot. It’s definitely paid off.” I replied. I felt Ryder burp, and I knew he was finished. I took the rag off and I rested him on the ground and gave Klaus the rag.

“Clean it or do something with it please?” I begged. He chuckled but took it and cleaned it for me. I watched in pride as Ryder was on all fours and staring at everything with those big green eyes of his. I felt the couch do the weird thing it does when someone sits on it next to you and an arm wrapped my waist and pulled me closer to them. I smiled and rested against Klaus as I watched Ryder begin to crawl. He was running his hands through my long blonde hair and I sighed in content.

“Ready to go love?” he asked quietly. I nodded slowly but I realized something.

“We need a babyseat…” I murmured looking up at Klaus who was smiling down at me.

“Done. I got everything that we need for the moment like the baby seat, diapers, wipes, and some clothes. It’s noon love.” Klaus said with a chuckle. My eyes widened and I nodded quickly. I wanted to go home and see my friends and my mother. Klaus laughed and picked Ryder up with one arm, and took my hand in his other. Smiling, we left the apartment, got into the car, and headed home.
