Chapter 7

Chapter 7

NIKLAUS

It's been about a month since that... eventfmyul day and Ryder was growing up to be adorable. I shook my head. I will never use the term adorable unless it's about Caroline. Speaking of my girlfriend, I had a very special plan for today. I was going to ask Elijah to take Ryder for the weekend so Caroline and I could take a break and just be us two. Elijah was quick to agree because he just adored Ryder. I was sitting at the breakfast table thinking and tapping on my cup of coffee when I heard Caroline walk downstairs.

"Morning Nik." Caroline said walking over and giving me a kiss. I smiled against the kiss before pulling away and tucking a stray hair behind her ears.

"Morning love." I replied. She had started to make breakfast, when she dropped the plate she was holding.

"Niklaus. Where the hell is our baby?" she asked angrily with wide eyes towards me. I let out a sigh and gave her a smile.

"Elijah." was all I replied before she relaxed. She looked down and cursed.

"Wonderful. Now I have to clean this, on top of making food, then I have to clean the house, and then I have to get Ryder. Fantastic, just fantastic." Caroline muttered to herself as she began to clean up her mess.

"Caroline love, Ryder's staying with my brother for the weekend so we can have some alone time." I said not looking up from my cup of coffee. I took a sip and I saw Caroline looking at me with her mouth hanging wide open.

"Yes?" I asked. She sighed and walked over to me before kissing me passionately.

"I love you Niklaus." she whispered against my lips. I smiled and looked into her eyes.

"I love you too Caroline." I replied before kissing her gently. That little gesture she just did gave me the courage to go with my original plan.

"Hey Nik, why were you, Damon, Stefan, and Elijah gone for a couple hours the other day?" Caroline asked curiously as she made herself a cup of coffee and some breakfast. My insides froze but I played it cool on the outside.

"Just some guy stuff." I replied vaguely. She looked at me suspiciously but let it drop. Thank god... she couldn't find out. At least not until tonight when I asked her. Tonight, I was planning on asking Caroline to marry me, and it had to be perfect.

I took her hand in mine and we walked into the house and Caroline's face immediately lit up when she was inside.

"Oh my god Nik this is perfect!" she exclaimed hugging me tightly and giving me a peck on the lips. I smiled. Good. If this was perfect, then what I had planned for tonight is going to be so much better than perfect.

"So what first?" she asked with excited eyes. I pecked her lips again and she laughed.

"Let's go swimming." I suggested seeing as we were right beside a beach. Caroline nodded quickly and ran off into a room with her luggage that was already here and changed. She walked out wearing a short length dress that covered up her bathing suit. My curiosity grew as I tried to figure out what she was wearing underneath. With a smirk, I went into the room with my luggage and quickly got changed. When I got out, she wasn't there and I started to panic. Then I heard her giggling and my eyes slitted as a grin settled onto my face. She went to the beach without me. I quickly ran and caught up with her and tackled her into the sand causing me to land on her. She giggled and kissed me passionately before we got up and set up our little camp.

"Nik, can you help me sunscreen?" Caroline asks. I raised an eyebrow and watched as she took off her dress and revealed her blue bathing suit that made me want her then and there. It was a dark blue bikini with white ruffles along the top of the top part, and white ruffles on the bottom of her bottoms. She looked sexy, for lack of a better word.

"Wow." was all I said. Caroline laughed and with much enthusiasm, I helped her sunscreen. Soon, we were in the water and having the best time of our lives, though we both missed our little Ryder.

It was a couple hours later and we were just sitting on the couch watching The Notebook because Caroline really wanted to watch it; again. I knew that it was getting closer and closer to dinner, but I didn't know how I would about setting it up. After the movie was done and Caroline had stopped crying, she stood up and declared that she was going to take a shower. Quickly, (thank god for vampire abilities) I set up a picnic on the beach to watch the sunset and took out the premade dinner that I had already made and got it ready. About an hour later, Caroline comes back into the living room wearing a cute white sundress and white flip-flops. I give her a quick kiss then gently took her outside and to the picnic. She gasped and gave me such a passionate and loving kiss, that I knew this would be the moment of perfection I desired to ask for her hand in marriage.

We were finished eating and were just sitting there watching the sunset when I stood up and kneeled in front of her taking out the ring from my pocket.

"Caroline Forbes, when I first laid eyes on you I knew you were different. For me, it was literally love at first sight and nothing I did could get you out of my head. I still can't. You made me realize just how much of a monster I was, and you, no one else, honestly believed that I could, and would change. You have given me more than your love, you have given me a family whether it be an accidental family or not. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for you, because that's how much I love. So Ms. Forbes, will you do the greatest thing in life and marry me?" I asked really nervous. Her hand was still covering her mouth and her eyes were wide with tears in them. I felt worry because she hadn't answered, and it's been at least a minute. Finally, her hand lowered and she looked me in the eyes. I was shaking now.

"Caroline?" I asked really nervously. She took my hands and a tear fell, but I couldn't tell if it was a happy tear or not.

"Nik, that was the sweetest thing anybody has ever said to me. My answer is......."
