Chapter 9

Hey guys! Sorry it took so long! I don't have a laptop art the moment and won't for awhile, so I have to update via my cellphone so it will take some more time in between chapters. Thanks for the continued likes, votes and comments. It makes me so happy and have more reason for continuing the story. So without further ado, here's chapter 9! :)

Ryder had just finished a piece of his cake when Elijah, Elena, Rebekah, and I heard a car pull up. I turned to them to see them staring out the window with wide eyes, as well as wide mouths. I started to walk to the door, but was immediately stopped by Rebekah.

"It's Ryder's bedtime. We'll deal with whoever it is. Just go-" before she could finish that sentence, the door opened and in walked both my worst nightmare, and my knight in shining armor; Niklaus.

Chapter 9

CAROLINE

It was dead silent in the room as he stared at me with a million different emotions flashing through his eyes.

"Love-" he began but I couldn't stand to hear him call me that, especially after what he put us through.

"No, don't you 'love' me!" I said getting angry. I take a step closer to him and stare up at him.

"Nine freaking years Niklaus! YOU LEFT ME AND OUR SON FOR NINE DAMN YEARS! I cried EVERY NIGHT while you were gone! I stared at your drawings EVERY NIGHT since you left! I seriously should HATE you for leaving!!!" I screamed punching him and hitting his chest feeling angry, frustrated, and upset.

"But no matter what you do, or what you say, I could never hate you. I can't hate you for leaving me for nine years..." I whispered suddenly confused. Then when I looked up, all my anger surfaced again. I started pounding on his chest again.

"Damn you Nik! Damn you for making me forgive the fact that you left me alone with our child for nine years! Why is this-" but before I could finish the question, I was cut off by Niklaus's lips on my own. I froze unsure what to do. This is his apology, and I was craving. After another second, I finally kissed back and threw my hands around his neck. He pulled away and I dug my face into his shoulder and just cried, happy that he was by my side again, and even happier that he was home with our family. When we finally took a step away from one another, I noticed that Rebekah and Ryder were gone, so she must have brought him to bed. The other vampires (Elena and Elijah) were smiling happily at us, while the only other person in this house who wasn't exactly at the moment was glaring at Niklaus; Bonnie. I walked over to her and we walked outside. I stopped and turned to look at her and she looked conflicted.

"Bonnie?" I asked worried for my friend as well as nervous about what she could be so conflicted over. Bonnie snapped out of it and opened her mouth as if to say something, but shut it changing her mind. She opened it again, and instead of speaking, she let out a sigh before speaking.

"Care, you're my best friend. Ever since he left you nine years ago, you went from being the optimistic person to the pessimistic person. It sucks to be brutally honest. Anyways, over the nine years, it hit me just how much you love him. It also made me realized that what happened in the woods nine years ago was stupid and I'm sorry that it even happened. To be completely honest, I'm happy for you two and I hope that everything works out between you two." Bonnie said. I saw the complete honesty and truthfulness in her eyes. I hugged her tightly, tears of joy falling from my eyes.

"Thank you so much Bonnie, that means more to me than you'll ever know." I whispered before pulling away. Smiling and laughing at nothing, we headed inside. When we entered, I saw that Ryder was actually not in bed but downstairs and playing with his dad; Nik. I leaned against the doorframe and watch with a warm smile as they played. The sight of his affection for Ryder just warmed my heart knowing that he loved Ryder, as well as me, even through the good and the bad.
