Chapter 10 

CAROLINE 

I watched with wide eyes as Kol smirked to himself, one hand twirling a wooden stake, the other holding his phone to his ear. He was starting at me, but it was obvious he wasn't focused on me. I heard Nik pick up. I strained my ears so I was able to listen to the conversation, but with the vervain in my system and on my body, it was slightly difficult.

"Kol." Nik said with so much anger at him for taking me that it made my heart flutter. Kol chuckled in his evil but attractive way. I shook my head and focused back in on the conversation. That was so inappropriate...

"Here's Caroline brother!" Kol said. At first I was confused by what he meant, but I understood what was happening the second the phone was put in between my shoulder and my ear. I held my breath waiting for Nik to say something, unsure if I was allowed to say something or not. I then realized what could happen if I did say anything.

"Caroline?" Nik asked as if it was too good to be true. A tear fell as I smiled at his worry and concern. He needed to know what Kol was planning to do, but I had looked at Kol and he was still smirkng but while shaking his head as if to say don't do it. I took a deep breath. Whatever the consequence may end up being, Nik needed to know. 

"Nik... he's planning to kill us, Elena, Damon, Bonnie, and Jeremy." I managed to say before the phone was ripped away from me. I don't understand why because it's not like I told Nik where we were... All of a sudden, the stake that was twirling around his fingers was suddenly stabbed into me. I gasped in pain as tears fell from my eyes. Kol twisted the stake and I let out an earsplitting scream as I felt the stake just barely miss my heart. 

"Don't touch her!" Nik screamed so darkly over the phone that everyone in the room flinched, Kol the most. Kol regained himself very quickly and just chuckled, smirking.

"Missed the heart. Too bad. This time I won't miss." Kol said angrily before hanging up and placing the phone on the table. He grabbed a knife and dipped the tip of the knife into a jar. He then proceed to walk to Elena. To my absolute horror, he stabbed her in the leg causing her to scream in pain. It must have been dipped in vervain if it hurt that much... Kol roughly grabbed her chin forcing her to look into his eyes. 

"I want you to stab each leg alternating between them until I tell you to stop." Kol said compelling Elena. I saw Elena trying to fight it, but she couldn't as she removed the knife from her left leg and then stabbed her right one, crying even harder. That compel was like the one Nik gave to Katherine when she was still a bitch. I glared at Kol as he just ignored Bonnie and walked back over to me. The second he crouched down in front of me, I spit in his face glaring. 

"You're an ass." I said angrily. His smirk quickly turned into a glare as he wiped my spit off of his face with one hand, and pushed the stake farther into me with the other. I mistakingly looked into his eyes and couldn't look away. 

"You will pay for that. When Nik shows up, you will kill him." Kol said before standing up and leaving the room. I started to cry as soon as I realized what that would mean. Nik can only be killed with one type of wooden stake, but if a vampire, like me, uses it to kill him, then the vampire user will die alongside Nik. Nik, please don't come... 

NIK 

It's been a week and I haven't gotten another call. I was starting to get worried and panicky. Where would Kol bring them? He hasn't been alive so-to-speak for very long, so the only secluded places he could go would be... I let out an angry growl. No, he wouldn't... I heard a cry from behind me. I turned around and saw Adalynn standing on the stairs crying as she held her favorite stuffed teddy bear. I walked to her and picked get up. She hugged me tightly and continued crying.
