Chapter 6

Chapter 6

CAROLINE

It was mid-afternoon and I was shopping with Ryder for some new clothes. Klaus would be here, but he was dealing with Silas drama. I didn’t care as I just wanted to spend the day with my little monkey. We had finished in one store when I felt the hairs on the back of my neck raise. I quickly turned around and scanned the area but didn’t see anything suspicious. I shook my head and walked down the street to the next store, the feeling of being watched never left, even when I entered the store. I quickly finished and walked to the car and threw everything in it while still holding Ryder with my other hand. I used my vampire hearing and listened to everything around me as I decided to stop for lunch at a cute resturaunt Elena, Bonnie, and I went all the time during the summer. I was about to walk in when my hearing picked up on something unusual.

“Dude, if we take them, then we can get to him easily! We saw her in Italy and well, he protected her. This time, there’s a kid and any father would kill for his son and wife back.” I hid my scoff. That’s when it hit me. they were talking about getting Klaus, and using me and Ryder as bait. Instead of stopping for lunch, I turned and walked away from the sounds.

“She’s on the move. Let’s go hunting boys!” I felt my fear rise and I hugged Ryder closer to me. He was awake and crying but I couldn’t stop and calm him down or we could both be killed. I cursed as I tried to reach for my phone; it was in the car. In a swift motion, I turned and very quickly walked back to my car. I quickly grabbed my phone then left walking faster than I have ever walked in public before.

“Boys, she’s picking our conversations up. Let’s get her before she calls Niklaus and tells him to stay away. I want them to get him in, and I want to use her for some fun.” I shuddered and the second I stepped in the woods, I used my vampire speed and ran away just to run into a man. He smirked at me and hit his hand with his crossbow. I yelped and turned around to see the three other men that I saw in Italy run towards me grinning. I hugged a now quiet Ryder close to me as I waited for the rest to circle around me. I knew there was at least ten others, for I heard them shuffling in the woods. Secretly, I dialed Klaus’s number and instead of holding it to my ear, I kept it gripped in my hand making sure that I didn’t hang up.

“Leave me and my baby alone!” I said trying to sound strong and fierce, but it came out shaky. The men laughed as the others completely surrounded me.

“Caroline love? Where the hell are you?” I heard Klaus say from the phone sounding angry and worried. I tried hard not to make it obvious that I was on the phone. A guy smirked and took a step towards me but when I went vampire, they all froze and immediately had their weapons up. I let out a sigh and relaxed, and they relaxed as well.

“Caroline Forbes. The only true love of Niklaus Mikaelson, mother of little Ryder. Use your phone, and tell your husband that we’re in the woods. If he doesn’t come within the next hour alone, then we’ll kill both of you.” said the man who had taken a step towards me. I hid my smirk and glared angrily at them.

“And if I refuse to make this call?” I ask.

“Caroline love, I’m on my way with Stephan, Damon, Elena, Rebekah, and strangely Elijah who just appeared. Jeremy’s been demanding to come, so him too. Hang up and do the call.” I heard Klaus say on the phone. “I love you Caroline.” With that, I hung up and glared at the man before calling Klaus who answered immediately.
