Chapter 8

Hey guys. So it took longer than I expected to get the 10 votes, so I'm going back to the seven. -___-

Anyways, I just wanted to say thank you so much to everybody who is consistently reading, voting, and/or commenting. Every time I see a vote, a comment, or someone even just adding my story to a list, it makes me smile like a fool! So thank you again for being such awesome lovelies!

Rebekah: *turns to Elena* grab some popcorn! She's about to cry.

Elena: *eyes widen and runs to the kitchen and makes popcorn before returning*

Me: *sniffles* Was so not about to cry...

Elijah: *shakes his head regretting coming back to Mystic Falls randomly* Just vote, fan, and/or comment and this will all be over... hopefully.

Chapter 8

Recap:

"Caroline Forbes, when I first laid eyes on you I knew you were different. For me, it was literally love at first sight and nothing I did could get you out of my head. I still can't. You made me realize just how much of a monster I was, and you, no one else, honestly believed that I could, and would change. You have given me a family whether it be an accidental family or not. There is nothing that I wouldn't do for you, because that's how much I love you. So Ms. Forbes, will you do the greatest thing in life and marry me?" Nik asked really nervous. Caroline's hand was still covering her mouth and her eyes were wide with tears in them. Nik felt worried because she hadn't answered, and it's been at least a minute. Finally, her hand lowered and she looked him in the eyes. Nik was shaking now.

"Caroline?" Nik asked really nervous. She took his hands and a tear fell, but he couldn't tell if it was a happy tear or not.

"Nik, that was the sweetest thing anybody has ever said to me. My answer is............"

CAROLINE POV

I hated to do this to him, but I didn't know what to do. I love him, but I don't know!

NIK POV

My body froze as she didn't say her answer. I was glad that nobody else was here, so they wouldn't see how nervous and humiliating this was. Caroline looked down and my heart sank deep. After a minute, her hands pulled out of mine, and she looked up with tears streaming down her beautiful face.

"Nik, I'm sorry. I love you dearly, I honestly do, but I need Bonnie to accept us first, and this is all happening so fast. Please Nik, believe that I love you. If you ask in a couple months, there wouldn't have been any hesitation." she said. My body froze as an immense sadness, pain, and slight anger rushed through my body at an insane rate. I stood up, and she started crying harder.

"I'm sorry to. I'm sorry that I even thought for a second that you'd actually want to marry me." I said. I know it was kind of harsh, but I was in too deep and I couldn't dig my way out, even with Caroline.

"Nik please!" Caroline begged crying. I turned around and I let the tears fall.

"Niklaus Mikaelson!" Caroline screamed. I spun around with anger and saw that she was sobbing and looked so pained, that I almost forgave her and walked back. However, this wasn't something I could take lightly, and Caroline realized that when I didn't step towards her.

"I love you so much Niklaus, please don't throw this away..." Caroline whispered, but I still heard it. I closed my eyes.

"Why shouldn't I Caroline? I just poured everything out, and proposed to you, and you rejected me. I'm hurt, so at the moment, I need to be away from you." I said before turning and walked into the house. I let the tears fall as I walked to the bedroom and started packing. About halfway through, I stopped and sat onto the bed. Why the hell was I acting like this? It wouldn't be the first time I was rejected by something I wanted... But this time was certainly different; she made it different and way more emotional. With that, I finished packing and walked out the front door. I decided to leave the car there so Caroline wouldn't have to run home, but I needed to get out, and now. With one last look, and one last mumbled-under-the-breath goodbye to my love, I left her and headed back to Mystic Falls; crying the entire way there.
