“She’s beautiful, Lou. Take good care of her.”
My eyes fluttered open. I was on a bed that had an overview to a city. Pain ran through my chest and arms. I looked to my left and saw Agent Styles and Louis talking. They hugged and Styles left. Louis looked from the floor, to me.
“Did we wake you?” he said, walking over to the bed.
“No. Did we get him?”
“Yeah.”
He sat down next to where I was laying. Slowly, he played with my hair and kissed the top of my head.
“Where’s Liam? Where am I?” I said softly.
“Liam’s got Sydney in London. You’re at my place in Paris. It’s all over.”
The mood had totally changed. Flashbacks came. His voice hushed on the last sentance. The gun shot repalyed in my head. I closed my eyes.
“It’s going to be okay, though.” He said.
Louis pushed himself under the covers, careful to not hit my shoulder. He rubbed my cheek with his index finger. I knew I’d be okay. From it all, I was exhausted. I tilted my head and opened my eyes to see him.
“What about the other girls there?” I whispered.
“John’s team came in with ambulances and cops. To reassure you, you’re shoulders are going to be okay, the job is done, and Liam and Sydney are safe.”
Him whispering was the best sound I’ve heard. I closed my eyes and smiled. It really was all over with. No stress, no gun shots, no screaming or nothing. Louis shifted and got out of the bed. He leaned over me and kissed my forehead.
“I’m going to make you breakfast, love. Don’t go anywhere.” He smiled.
“Don’t plan on it.”
Louis chuckled to himself and left. I tried to sit up without using my arms. Didn’t work. I rolled onto the better shoulder and brought my knees up. My arms weren’t completely useless, it just hurt like heck to barely move them. As I sat my back against the headboard and pulled the covers up, my phone rang.
“Really?” I mumbled to myself.
The caller ID said John. Not wanting to answer it, I knew I had to.
“Yeah?” I said.
“Jora, please forgive me.” He said.
“That sounds just as fake as my ex boyfriend said it.”
“You are a true agent. Please do forgive me. For doing such an act, you will be rewarded.”
“I’m already rewarding myself. I’m taking myself a good two month vacation.”
The phone was silent on the other side.
“Is that a problem?” I said.
“Well, it’s just that we need you.”
“Both of my arms have been SHOT. I don’t know if you guys ever listen to a woman but listen when I say I’m doing what I want for two months. You know I deserve it.”
“You’re right, Jora. I’m sorry…”
I hung up and put my phone in my pocket. Really? Wow. I huffed and thought. LIam popped in my head. I guess I need to call him. I picked my phone up and called him. It rang three times.
“Jora?” He answered.
“Hey, Liam.” I smiled.
“Are you okay? You’re still at Louis’ right? I’m alright.”
“Well, my other shoulder is killing me. Louis’ gone to make breakfast. John just called and made a lame apology. Is Sydney okay?”
“Yeah she’s fine. When she had woken up from me draining the drugs, she cried tears of joy. We did such a mission, Jora…we did more than save lives.”
There was silence.
“This is why I love this job. I think I’ll do it till the day I die.”
“I totally agree with you. Oh, Louis’ back. I’ll call you later.” I smiled.
“Oh, okay. Bye.”
“Bye.”
Louis brought in cereal and burnt toast. I started to giggle. As he sat it down, he rubbed the back of his neck.
“I wasted more than two slices of toast to try and get it to the best I could.”
“Aww, Louis. That’s too sweet. Really. I’ll eat it.”
“Alright.” he smiled.
As I ate, Louis picked up his room from clothes and the bathroom. The sun started to peak from the clouds. The clock next to the bed said seven. I thought. I dont have any other clothes of mine besides what I’m wearing now. Maybe some of Louis’ but I cant always wear those, even though it’d be nice.
“Hey, Lou?” I said.
“Yeah?” He shouted from the bathroom.
“To make a great start to ‘us’, we could go shopping.”
