“I got this while out today. You and I are having dinner downtown. I know it’ll fit.” Liam said, placing a dress on our bed.
Arms crossed, I stared at the dress. Blank face. Liam was smiling.
“Thanks, babe.” I said, flashing a weak smile.
“Do you want to watch your movie that just came out?” He asked.
I nodded. Walking downstairs, he held my hand. I sat down and Liam covered me with a blanket. Hot chocolate was made and I snuggled up to Liam. I was so happy he was back.

“You look beautiful.” Liam said, near my ear.
I blushed. He opened the door and we walked into the restaurant. Posh. Modern. Chic. I liked it. I felt Liam’s hand on my waist, pulling me close. When he wears a suit, it makes my knees a little weak. It makes a guy look 10 times better.
A waiter led us to our table.
“Water, please.” Liam ordered.
“Same.” I said.
When the waiter left, I flipped through the menu. All the prices were close to a hundred and up. Dang. My appetite was barely there but I knew I had to eat for Liam.
“So what do you want to do tomorrow? Anything special?” Liam asked.
I turned the engagement ring on my finger with my thumb and a small smile.
“How about we plan the wedding?” I asked.
Liam’s face lit up.
“That’d be great. Perfect. If I had to choose right now…I’d pick Harry to be the best man.”
The waiter gave us our drinks and was then off with our order.
“Why?” I asked out of curiosity.
He rubbed his chin and took a sip of water.
“He watched over you really well and knew the right things to do when I wasn’t there. That’s a true man.” He said.
I nodded my head in agreement. Harry does deserve the best man.
“I’d probably have…well, I don’t have very many friends so I guess Sydney. Even though what she did-”
“Don’t worry about that, love.” He said softly.
“I know she means well but…we’ll just talk about it tomorrow.”
I sipped my water and watched cars pass by. There was silence all the way till our food came. I wonder what Liam’s thinking.
“If you don’t finish, I’ll reheat it tomorrow for you.” Liam said.
I took a bite and smiled. I patted my mouth for any sauce.
“I love you.” I said.
“And I love you. So much.”
“Can I ask you something?”
“Yeah, babe.”
I paused before asking.
“What’s gone through your head since the day you started to like me?”
His eyes stared at mine. He thought. Deeply. As he thought, I stared at his chest in the white button up shirt. Handsome. Very.
“Sharing the bed gave me goosebumps. I don’t know why. Maybe it was because my feelings got to me in excitement. When you started to like Louis, it broke my heart. I thought to myself that maybe I could love you better. I’ve loved you since the day you moved in with mum and I.”
I bit my lip and smiled. Another piece of my heart glued back together.
Another hour or so passed and we got our check. We packed our to-go boxes and got back in the car. Turning the corner for our street, Liam spoke up.
“Jora, can I bring something up?” He asked.
“Yeah.”
He thought before speaking.
“I know it was tough but….could we try again?”
My heart sunk. Memories. Pain. Heart break. Absence. As soon as we pulled in the driveway, I pushed the door open and ran into the house.
“Jora!” Liam yelled.
Inside, I flung my heels across the room. Tears fell from my face. Liam slammed the door behind him and took his jacket off. I put my back against the wall and sobbed. Liam walked fast, almost in anger. When meeting me, he grabbed my hands and pushed them against the wall. Not harshly, but jerky.
“Jora listen to me! I know it hurts! I’m hurting, too! I lost my baby girl, too! I need you to get yourself up because I’m not going to loose you either! I can stop you from falling…” His voice relaxed from almost yelling to almost crying. His chest pressed against mine.
“I ache every night at the fact that I can’t heal you, babe. I try helping. I took you out, watched a movie, made you a drink….please work with me here. You’re too beautiful for a frown.”
I blinked and a tear fell. My eyes looked to his. I didn’t fear him. I felt his emotion. I brought my hands out of his and wrapped them around his neck.
“If we try again, maybe it’ll fill that hole in both of our hearts. Just give it another go…” He whispered.
I brought my legs up and he held me.
“Bring me upstairs please…” I sniffed.
Upstairs, we both changed into our pajamas and then found ourselves holding each other in bed. He drew circles on my back. Head on his chest.
Yes, I felt ill and fear at trying again but, I wanted a family. A family with Liam. What if it does follow through? My heart would be fixed. I took a deep breath.
“We can try again.” I whispered.
