I woke up to perfection. A heartbeat. Safety. Welcoming hands. A comfortable chest. My hands were on smooth skin. Everything came clear. We weren’t in our house. Not Louis’ apartment either. Someplace new. We were both laying down on the couch. I was wearing his sweats and his T-shirt. I leaned my head up to see Liam. His eyes met mine and an immediate smile crept on his face.
“Hi.” He said.
I laughed and laid back down. He kissed the top of my head. I let out a sigh of relief.
“Thank you, Liam. You’re just….perfect.” I smiled against his chest.
He wrapped his arms around me.
“I’m so glad you’re here. After hearing you shout over the phone, I knew I had to see you’re beautiful face. I had to hold you in my arms…”
He said no more. It was like he was hesitating. Or regretting. Shy. I leaned back up and smiled at him.
“Did you mean that?” I asked.
“Well, of course.”
I looked away and smiled.
“Anything else you want to share?” I bit my lip with a smile.
“If you’re still interested in being with Louis, no.”
I shook my head and looked back at him. I drew my arms up and propped myself.
“I think you’re the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen, Jora. Dead serious. I’ve lived with you since preteen and I’ve just….I’ve had the time of my life just being a best friend. Knowing someone else could’ve been all over you made me sick. I just wanted you here. Where I’d know you’d be okay…”
I couldn’t help but smile. I felt the same way. Louis wasn’t true love. Liam was. And it took me this long to figure it out.
“All I could think about was being in your arms the whole time.” I whispered.
His face lit up. He sat up and my legs crossed together behind his back. I wrapped my arms around his neck. He looked at my eyes.
“You don’t need makeup, babe.” He whispered.
I planted my lips on his. My hands trailed up to his cheeks. He kissed back and locked his hands behind my waist. A moment of perfection. I wanted to stay like this for as long as possible. The touch of Liam’s hands and lips gave me butterflies of infinite. I could spend the rest of my life with him. I think I’m in love. Liam smiled in the kiss. As I drew back, our lips parted only a bit.
“Please believe me when I say I’m madly in love with you.” He whispered.
My eyes went to his.
“Would it be crazy if I felt the same way?” I smiled.
“No. I was hoping you’d feel the same.” He said.
Before my lips went back to his, he swooped me up bridal style and brought me into the bedroom. He gently laid me on it and closed the door. He got us under the covers and hovered over me. He started to kiss me. My hands pressed against his chest. He slowly made his way to my neck. I grabbed his T-shirt into a soft fist. Liam stopped kissing and took in a deep breath. I wrapped my arms around his neck. His cologne was intoxicating.
“Come here.” He said, softly.
He laid down on his back and pulled me close to his chest. Instead, I sat on his lap and pulled him up like we were before on the couch.
“Just kiss me.” I said.
His hand tipped my chin up and he kissed me. Slowly and gracefully. It was all perfect. I couldn’t get enough of him. Pure joy rushed through every vein in my body.
“Will you be mine?” He said, in a very low tone.
I kissed him again and answered.
“Yes.”
