They released me the next day from the hospital. A week later, I slept in bed alone. Harry remained on the couch. Every night I cried myself to sleep. I went home empty handed.

“Jora…” Harry whispered.

I woke up to him sitting on the side of my bed. My eyes were puffy. His hair was a bit messy and he had a white tee and some baggy sweatpants. He rubbed his thumb on my cheek.

“Come on. You haven’t moved much. We’re getting some coffee.” He said.

I turned the other way and curled up. Then, Harry ripped the covers off and picked me up out of bed. I locked eyes with him.

“Get dressed.” He smiled.

I got back in my feet and he stood at the doorway.

“Liam told me to watch over you and that’s what I’m doing. Know I do it out of love.” He said.

I flashed a quick smile and he closed the door. In minutes, we were out the door and walked to the cafe I worked at. Drew served us. I got the usual black coffee.

“Are you feeling sick anymore?” Harry asked.

“No. I feel like ten pounds and I eat scraps.” I said.

“It’ll be okay. You’ll regain it all. You’ve been crying haven’t you…?”

“How do you manage to put up with me? Have you ever had a girlfriend?”

The words kind of slipped. I wasn’t rude about it, just curious because he’s so sweet.

“I did once but it was rough. Now I’m waiting for the right girl.” He said, fixing his shirt.

I sipped my coffee.

“Well, that’s a shame. You seem like a real sweet, good guy, Harry.” I said.

“Thank you. I appreciate that.”

He took a sip of his coffee. I played with the sugar packs. An awkward silence. When I looked back up, I saw a car pull in the parking lot. I almost fell out of the booth when I saw who it was. I looked to Harry. He smiled at me. I shot up. Full sprint out the door.

“Liam!” I shouted.

His face was ecstatic. I ran into his arms and cried. Oh how I had missed them. Him. Every inch of him. My heart hasn’t felt this happy in days. I pulled back and kissed him.

“I heard what happened and demanded to be sent back. I wouldn’t let you face this without me here.” He said, into my hair.

I sighed into his chest. I was so happy. But a hint of depression hid in my mind.

“Thank you so much, Harry.” Liam said.

Harry was behind me and shook Liam’s hand. I let go of Liam and hugged Harry. He rubbed my back.

“If we can get back home, I’ll get my bags and head on to my place.” He said.

“Have a safe trip back. Come see us soon.” I said from the doorstep.

“I will.” He waved.

Liam was behind me and waved, too. When Harry was gone, Liam closed the door. He kissed my head.

“You sure you okay, babe?” He asked.

“Yeah. You want to order pizza and we watch a movie? I’m going to get in the shower.” I said, somewhat happy.

The only reason I tried somewhat to keep a smile on my face was so that Liam wouldn’t worry. I was a tore up mess inside but I kept a small grin just for him. I made my way to our bedroom and got in the shower.

I let silenced tears fall. A piece of my heart went down the drain. I lost my child I carried for 9 months. I made the shower a little hotter. As I got the last of the shampoo out, I heard the shower door open. Liam stepped in.

He turned me to him and started to make out. Chest to chest. We just stood under the shower as we shared love. His lips parted from mine, only inches.

“I still love you….and we’re going to make it out of this. I won’t have you reach a dark stage of life.” He said.

I looked at him in the eyes. He was so assuring. His biceps engulfed me into a hug. The feeling of my head on his bare chest brought some of the shattered pieces of my heart back. Liam was my other half. The soft, humble side. He was mine, and mine alone to love. Even if it was only him and I.
