“You got an earpiece?” Louis asked.
“Yeah. Why?”
“We can’t take a cab unless it’s an absolute emergency. We’ll be seperated and each of us will walk all the way to the outskirts of Berlin. Louis’ shown the roadmap. Keep an eye out for anyone suspicious.” Liam said, fixing his.
“And our luggage?”
“I’ve got a friend taking care of that. The room service lady.”
Undercover friends. That’s cool. I wish they’d offer a ride, too. If I knew we had to walk, I wouldnt’ve worn wedges. I put the earpiece in. It’s a lot smaller and not noticeable. Good thing because my hair’s up. I was hooked up to talking to Louis and hearing both Liam and Louis. I could only be wired up to one guy to talk to.
“You’re first. Keep walking unless I say otherwise. American accent.” Louis said.
I breathed in a deep breath and walked out of the small alley. The sun beamed on my face. It was close to eighty degrees. It had to be. There were a few breezes here and there. I walked with the crowd. The man infront of me was yelling in German at the phone in his hand. Must’ve had a bad day. behind my sunglasses, I looked at the roofs and windows of the buildings I past. Everytime my arm moved, I felt a small pain. They wrapped white gauze around the injury so I had to wear a long sleeve.
“Wow.” Louis said.
I pretended my phone was buzzing and looked at the front, then answered it.
“What?”
“You look nice.” He said said in a low, British tone.
I smiled at the ground.
“Oh, please.”
“No, really. I gotta tell you know so Liam doesn’t hear. He’s always around you.”
“Well, we grew up together.”
It was silent. I pretended to laugh and smile.
“Okay well, call me again if need be!” I said, cheerfully.
“You do this well.” he laughed.
I ‘hung up’ and put my phone in my pocket. Gosh. I could feel my pulse had gotten fast after talking to him. I was torn between the two of them, I’ll admit it. Louis’ really handsome but Liam’s warming. Louis’ sexy but Liam’s always been fit and cute. I wondered where Liam was. Where Louis’ was and if he could see me. I bumped into someone and almost reached for my gun. Instinct.
“Oh, sorry!”
“Stupid American.” The man spat.
I furrowed my eyebrows and carried on. Rude much? Get a cup of tea…
“Right at the next block.” Liam said.
“Don’t take the food he’s offering.” Louis second.
I passed the guy with the tray and gave a simple smile. Where the heck were the guys? I turned and went down the block Liam said to. The sidewalks were less crowded and more shady. Good. John called my phone again but I ignored it. I was so mad at him. The more I thought about it, the more I thought about tomorrow. I tried to calm my thoughts that Louis and Liam would come up with an idea. I wanted to get it done and go home. But that’s the thing about being in this field. You’ve gotta sacrifice a lot.
“The sign that says ‘Inn’, go through the back door. The first person you see, say my name and we’ll see you in the room.” Louis said.
I made my way across the street with a group of people and hauled down the side of the building. I opened the only door in the back and saw an older man. He looked at me weird and before he could say anything, I spoke.
“Louis.”
He held his tongue and smiled.
“This way, miss.”
A sigh of relief escaped and we climbed a few flight of stairs after making it to the lobby. It wasn’t a fancy hotel. If anything, it was a one star hotel, maybe not even a star. But it kept us low. We reached the second floor and went to a room.
“Here you go. If you need anything, just call.” He spoke, with a thick German accent.
“Thank you.”
I walked in and closed the door. Looking around, It wasn’t much. A very small bathroom and one big bed. How is this going to work? I kept the blinds closed and didn’t even think about touching them, in fear of letting the cover blow incase anyone was watching. I looked on the other side of the bed and saw our four suitcases. Two for me.
“Jora?” A voice said from the door.
I turned to see Liam and Louis. A hundred pounds was lifted off my shoulders. We all hugged.
“That was fun.” Liam smiled.
“Too close for comfort, really. What’s for dinner?” I said.
“Soup. Make yourself at home.” Louis said, plopping onto the bed.
Liam went to use the restroom.
“How are we all going to fit on there?” I asked.
Louis looked at me and smiled.
“I guess we’ll all have to get really close.”
