Marriage isn't a ring worn or a paper signed. It is not something endured but savoured. It is the union of two hearts beating as one, each that would sacrifice for the other's happiness and wellbeing. Marriage is something so beautiful that in the natural world it would be an opening rose, always with radiant petals left to unfurl to a warm sun. Perhaps that is why we give roses to those we love and often have them at our sacred unions. Marriage is the blessing we give to one another, an eternal bond of soul-mates.

"Before I met you, before I even knew you existed, I knew you were coming. I was ready to give my whole heart to someone, and now here you are. Sometimes I think I'm going to explode from how much I love you. I'm completely consumed by you. And today, we get to become one. I promise to love you until after my heart bursts, I promise to love you until after our children are old and gray. You're my dream and my reality, my future and my present, my whole heart and my best friend. I thank God for bringing you to me and igniting that light. I can't wait to shine together and make everybody completely blind." Mikasa put down her cue cards and met Eren's topaz eyes with a gorgeous smile. She looked absolutely stunning.

She had a mermaid-style dress, which fit close to her body from the chest to the knee, then flared out flawlessly at her feet. The dress was littered with beautifully handcrafted patterns that really pulled the dress together, as well as a very sweet bow at the back. Her bouquet was filled with gorgeous flowers, all white and sky blue.

"From the moment I met you, I wanted more. I wanted more of your infectious smile, I wanted more of your adorable giggle, and I wanted more of your love. You had me hooked from the beginning. Every day, I am encouraged by your love, and as your husband, I promise to always put you first. I promise to be the best father I can be to our future children, and I promise to always make you laugh with my silly faces and ridiculous voices...I love you, and I'm going to love you for eternity." Eren dropped his cards in anticipation for them to be wedded.

"Do you, Mikasa Ackerman, take Eren Jaegar, to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold until death do you part?"

"I do,"

"And do you, Eren Jaegar, take Mikasa Ackerman, to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold until death do you part?"

"I do,"

"I know pronounce you, husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," Before he had even finished his sentence, Eren had pulled Mikasa into their betrothal kiss. He held her close, his hands around her thin waist, and hers draped happily around his shoulders. The audience stood up and erupted in applause and cheers for the newly wedded couple.

I was standing beside the altar, getting the best view of the couple anyone could hope for. I could see Levi sitting towards the back by the aisle. He didn't get to be a best man or a guest of honour. But I'm sure Eren would be over the moon to hear that Levi came to his wedding, and I'm just as happy as him.

The room buzzed with excited chatter and children ran between the tables in a good natured game of tag. Then the bride and groom entered, applause spread across the room. There was the scraping of chairs as folks got up for a standing ovation and the happy couple made their way to the head table, smiling and holding hands. They sat in front of a bouquet of baby blue and white roses and the groom leaned in for a kiss.

After everyone had settled comfortably into their meals, Reiner rose from his chair and everyone else sat down. The sound of his teaspoon rapping on the side of his wineglass signalled everyone to silence, except the children who were shushed by their parents.
