I woke up today to the sound of my phone blaring out my ringtone. This cause me to fall off my bed land in a heap on the floor, taking my blanket with me in a rush to get to my phone and actually wake up in order to get it. I looked at the caller ID and saw Matt’s name. I was seriously curious as to what he could possibly be calling me about now.
I answer with a lovely “Matthew, it is 6:30 in the morning what is it?” I heard sniffling on the other line and straight away perked up “Matt, what happened?” “Carly broke up with me” I was going to kill that bitch, how could anyone dump someone as sweet as Matt seriously. “Matt do you want me to come over or just tell me what happened across the phone?” “Come over please, I need to see you and please bring food please?” “Starbucks, how could I forget” He actually laughed when I said that. YES JAMIE PROGRESS ALREADY “You know me to well Jamers, I’ll see you soon okay?” “Wait Matt where are you? “Blake’s”” Okay see you soon”.
I quickly hopped into a pair of sweatpants and a plain cheer athletics top. I needed to see Matt as quickly as possible. I drove to Starbucks as fast as I could without breaking the speed limit. Rushing in with a boot and checking my phone every five seconds, the server guessed I was in a hurry. “Hi, Can I please get two Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino and a Vanilla bean frappe with a pump of raspberry, oh also a chocolate cake pop thankyou” I smiled at the guy who was serving Jake I believe his name was. “Best friend problems?” he asked I looked up surprised and replied “ Best friend just got dumped by his girlfriend, so big drama” “ Sorry to hear that, the drinks are nearly done and hears your cake pop” he smiled at me and said “ Attractive boot” “ Thanks they come in all different sizes” I winked at him. He handed me my drinks and I yelled him a thanks while getting out as quickly as possible.
It took me about 10-15 minutes to arrive at Blake’s and when I did, Blake quickly took the drinks and food to Matt while I locked the car. Blake told me everything Carly had said and how Carly kept comparing me to her and also saying that Matt and I couldn’t be friends. I felt terrible knowing it was mainly my fault. I told Blake it might be best that I just leave after that, but he kept telling me how much Matt wanted me there and if I leave he will kill me. “Yeah I’m sure you’ll kill me Blake, while walking into the room Matt was wallowing in”
What I saw when I walked in broke my heart. Matt was sitting on the bed crying his eyes out and looking like someone had just kicked a puppy. “Matty, I’m so sorry boo” I said while running up to him, jumping on the bed and sitting behind him in a comforting way. Matt quickly relaxed in my arms, I kissed the top of his head and whispered to him “Tell me about it, I’ll listen” Matt took a huge breath, while letting it out slowly as if calming himself down.
“Carly blamed it all on you, I couldn’t listen to her saying the things she said about you Jamie. You’ve been my best friend for years and she wanted me to throw it all away, I couldn’t even think about doing that. You know things between Carly and I have been rocky for years, I’ve been so worried about how she’s going to react to everything recently, I’ve been realizing this isn’t what I want. So I told her about it and she told me that we were no longer dating. So she packed my bags and got her mum to drive me to Blake’s… She’s such a bitch”
“Matt, don’t say things you don’t really mean, I’m sorry for everything that happened with Carly, but you’re a strong person and you’ll get over it, go tumble or something boo. Don’t lay around and cry” I laughed at him when he pouted at me and said “You don’t like cry baby Matt” “It’s not your most attractive look Matty” I winked at him. Just then Blake texted me asking how everything was going and I told him how he explained everything and how he was now laughing along with me. “I love you Jamers, never stop being you okay?” My heart stopped when he said that “Love you to Matty, oh and I can go to Arkansas with you” As soon as I said that his eyes lit up like a baby at Christmas.
“I can’t wait to go home, I love Texas but home has my trampoline” “OMG Matt seriously, your trampoline, you miss that more than anything else hahahaha wow Matt” He noticed that my boot was hanging awkwardly of the bed and he held onto my leg and wrapped it around him. “So Matty, you feeling any better now?” “Loads, thankyou Jamie, and this drink is like heaven which reminds me you’ve finished yours” “Wow Matt, smart of you to realize that” he shoved his into my face and I took a long hard suck which emptied nearly half of the drink, while winking at him. “Yummy” I said while kissing him on the check
He snuggled into me and asked if we could just have a movie session. I decided on The Avengers seeing as that was his favourite movie, and I wanted to keep that smile on his face for as long as I could. When it came to the home screen, Matt jumped up hitting me in the face while doing so. “OMG MATT, CALM DOWN YOU PHYSCO” I said while holding my nose, “OMG JAMIE, I’M SO SORRY I DIDN’T MEAN TO”…. I ended up rolling my eyes at him and cuddled him closer to my chest. As soon as the movie started, Matt stopped trying to apologize as soon as the movie started which I was grateful for. Blake texted me that he was leaving and to keep an eye on Matt.
By the time, the movie was over Matt was fast asleep, which made me stop and really look at him. I’m gently touched his face pushed his hair back. How could anyone so pretty and sweet, ever get hurt by someone who was supposed to love him? I texted Carly to tell her to never ever hurt Matt again. Of course the bitch replied and reminded me that I would never be his and that I should stop trying. She told me how fake I was and that I would never be loved by Matt or anyone for that matter.
That hit me hard and the next thing I realize is that my tears are being wiped away by Matt, who’s staring at me in confusion. “I told him I was okay, but he wouldn’t have any off it and took my phone away to see what had upset me so much. When he finished reading he stood up, grabbed his phone of the bedside table and went to another room. In the next 3 minutes I heard Matt yelling at Carly for what she said to me and that she should never say that about me again.
I walked into the room he was in, and hugged him from behind. I felt him slowly turn to face me in his arms and cup the side of my face. He looked at me with so many emotions in his eyes including pride and slowly flicked down to look at my lips then back to my face. “Thankyou Matty” I whispered to him. He gave me a soft smile before replying “I will never let anyone hurt you”. The next thing I know we were both leaning in, and in the next 0.5 seconds I felt Matt’s soft lips on mine.
When I felt his lips on mine, I exploded into butterflies no matter how clique that sounds. I felt Matt’s heartbeat speed up underneath my hand before we both slowly pulled away from each other. I looked at Matt before realizing he wasn’t looking back at me. “I-I’m sorry Matt” I jumped up out of his grasp and ran out of the house as fast as I could with this stupid boot of mine and jumped into my car and drove away. If I had looked back I would have seen Matt running after me, yelling at me to stop.
