41) Denial

Saito-

He didn't think Xavier would end up dying. He and Duke evaporated; there was nothing left of them. Duke is dead; Zeus grantee's it. As for Xavier, no one is sure; his soul hasn't resurfaced. Zeus believes Xavier's soul is floating in the universe. Zeus only prays the universe returns him.

The war ended with many casualties, but mainly in Zeus' army. Unfortunately for Mount Olympus, they'll have to avoid any divine war. Their angels have dwindled essentially, and the rest are under recovery; the black rods are getting removed from some of the angel's bodies—the gods and goddesses are getting back to restoring balance. Mount Olympus is going to be alright.

The world is healing; the weather is getting back to normal. The clans, tribes, and covens under Duke's control are free. As for the fake Great ones, Zeus wanted them gone. Saito isn't a fan of public execution, but Zeus wished to set an example. Saito has taken his rightful place at the table of the Great Ones as Savannah has.

Things are looking good; the Dark Sun clan is getting restored. Zeus moved the Dark Sun back to its spot. Scott will take back control of his clan. But it'll have to wait; right now, they are mourning Xavier. Irena took the news hard, but she stood firm for her three children. Unfortunately, the one who has taken the news badly is Claire. He was uncontrollable, trying to look for Xavier.

Xavier saved Skyler; somehow, Xavier managed to pick up the grenade and take Duke with him. That holy grenade lit the sky like a Christmas tree, and the high-pitched sound was deafening. It took everyone a while to recalibrate.

Claire is currently locked away in his bedroom, sulking and crying. It's only been three weeks since the whole ordeal. Saito is starting to hate it. She barely eats or drinks anything. Savannah has to inject vitamins into her bloodstream to keep the baby alive. That's right, Claire is pregnant. Saito discovered it when she first shifted. He was happy, and now he's worried sick.

Xavier's disappearance, he won't say his death not yet, has affected Claire greatly. She can't accept it; it's probably because she and Xavier are blood-related, same mother and father. Xavier and Claire had a special sibling bond, and now it's broken.

Aside from that, Skyler is miserable, too. He says it should've been him, not Xavier. Zero had to smack some sense into him. To take Xavier's sacrifice as a gift and stop feeling guilty.

"I had enough!" Saito yelled. "I can't stand seeing Claire like that; she's going to kill our baby!"

Scott sighed. "We understand, but we have to let Claire mourn. Savannah is keeping the baby alive; of course, at some point, Claire will have to come out of that grieving state. She's going through the seven stages of grief; I think she's in stage four depression; if she doesn't move on from it, we'll intervene."

Saito sat back down on the armchair and leaned back. He rubs his forehead. "It's killing me; I can feel Claire's emotions."

Scott smiled. "Claire has strong women around her; they'll knock some sense into her moments of grief. They'll give Claire a reason to keep on living."

Saito will give Claire a few more days if he notices a sickly Claire. He will intervene, even if she likes it or not.

He closed his eyes, evaluating three weeks ago. Duke went to war with everyone. He hires rogues and hunters to attack every clan, tribe, and coven. It was a war, and the humans unfortunately got caught in the middle. Humans suffer more significant casualties because of the weather and rogues going rogue. And now humans know about the unknown world of angels and demons. It's not a good sign, but Zeus will allow it and will place a representative for the humans.

The hunters have gone underground; Duke didn't inform the hunters about going against demons and angels. They assume those won't wings were shapeshifters, like eagles and ravens.
