((WARNING EXTREMELY SHORT CHAPTER))
Onix was searching the basement. He hated the basement. It was where the old suits, endoskeletons, and animatronic parts were stored, as well as things from the old building, which was abandoned long before he was born. That was back when his parents were still children, and instead of having animatronics perform, they had humans, or even endoskeletons in suits performing. Alena, Aleene's mother, was originally named Aleene, but the human's who raised his parents and Aleene's parents accidentally misheard her name, and called her Alena, and by the time the manager found out, it was too late. So, Aleene was given the name instead.
Onix searched and searched, but found nothing.
Aleene had never been a fan of heights. But, she couldn't let Lucky come up here, and Onix's big tail would probably be spotted by someone if he were up here. This was a job for a cat. Luckily, she brought up her father's sword like she always did when she was on the roof. Her father always helped her with her fear of heights, even if he wasn't here. Aleene checked every corner of the roof, ducking whenever a car drove by on the road below. She was about to go back inside when she saw something scratched into one of the shingles on the roof. It was a symbol, but Aleene didn't know what it meant. So, she took her father's sword, and scraped the symbol off. As soon as every trace of the symbol was gone, Aleene felt a weight come off her shoulders. She suddenly felt much happier, like when her daughters were born. She started to walk back inside when she bumped into Lucky, who looked panicked.
"Hey Lucky, I'm pretty sure I fixed the cur-", she was cut off when Lucky gave her some bad news, "Aunt Aleene! Someone has broken in! They said something about coming to spy on us! They're in the vent, I turned the heat on! They were above the kitchen!" Aleene ran to the kitchen, where Aloe and Onix were talking. "Hey Aleene! I see one of you fixed the curse! Everyone's happy no-what are you doing?", Onix asked when Aleene opened the vent and crawled into it, searching for the intruder before they could escape. "
"Onix, someone broke in! They were mumbling about spying on us!", Lucky said, and Onix's smile dropped, "Oh. That might've been me if it was in the vent Aleene's using. I was kind of scared by the stuff in the basement, so I was talking to Aloe about how it felt like they were spying on me.", Onix said, and Lucky shook his head, "No! You've got to believe me! It was too high pitched to be your voice!", he said, and Aleene crawled back out of the vent, having heard what Onix said, "It's okay Lucky, sounds get altered when you're in there. You had a deeper voice, and Onix's was higher. It's okay if you misheard it, okay? Look, you've been a big help today, so Aloe?", Aleene looked at Aloe, who tilted her head in reply, "Could you and Onix make Lucky some eclair cake? I think he deserves it.", she said, and the two birds got to work.
"Now go enjoy the rest of the night Lucky, you earned it.", Aleene said, and walked back to her room, leaving a paranoid Lucky. Lucky was distraught, why would no one listen to him? But by the looks of it, the intruder was gone. Just to prove that to himself, he traversed the vents again to check. He knew someone had been there.
He just had to get proof.
((Sorry for the short chapter! But I had no time for it! Now I have to write about Aleene's date!~))
