Chpt. 65 (Guess Who Else Is Back)

*I Think You Know When*

Shay was sitting at the table, wide awake. It was past midnight, after she had visited Dane's place, it was late. And now she was the only one awake.

Or so she thought.

"Grandma Shay? Is that you?", asked a lower voice, and Shay turned around to see a grown, pale crocodile with plenty more scars than the last time she saw him. "Quill?", Shay asked, and the croc hugged her tight. "Since when were you alive?", Quill asked, and Shay sighed. "I just... woke up next to Horus's grave. No, I don't know who fixed me, and yes I know Horus is married to Aleene.", Shay huffed, and suddenly, a little penguin waddled into the room and hugged Quill's leg. "Mr. Dad, who's that?", the penguin asked, and Quill chuckled as he picked up the penguin. "Grandma Shay, this is Kiddo, my adopted son. Kiddo, this is your Great Grandma Shay. But what are you doing up? It's really late.", Quill pointed out to his adopted son, who sniffled. "I don't feel good Mr. Dad.", the penguin mumbled, and Quill sighed. "Let's get you to bed then, and we'll have a doctor see you in the morning if you don't get better. I'll be right back Grandma.", Quill said, leading his newly adopted son back to bed.

When he came back, Shay smiled. "So, what did I miss around here? Why are you up so late?", Shay asked, and Quill sighed. "You missed a lot, naturally. Belle adopted a kid too, and I found Kiddo by saving Pluma. Pluma is a little raptor animatronic, he's a dinosaur. But his kidnapper injected something into him, and now he gets violent outbursts and white outs where he acts like a dinosaur might act, and he's fallen ill, so that's not helping either. Until Belle and I find out what's wrong, we're seeing if there's any way to control it. Catherine and Phoenix got together, Neltharion and Felicity are engaged and with child, Lucky has a girlfriend and they are with child, Carrie and I... we might be growing apart, but I'm not sure. But Louis and Pepper have also gotten together, and so have Mei and Willow. And rumor has it that there's something between Abbie and Yowl, but I have no idea. And Basket is back, and he's actually kind of a cool guy. He only did his first crime, and was given hell for decades for it, and he's slowly gaining people's trust. Don't tell Great Uncle Fenix or Grandpa Horus, but when Lucky offers to babysit Cerise, he hands her over to Basket and he and Berry help Basket learn how to care for a child. Fenix still hates Basket, and I think he's actually jealous that Lucky forgave him so quickly. I think he's afraid Basket will take his place.", Quill rambled, and Shay was shocked. She had missed more than she had thought.

"And Peppy and Frost are with child, and the Red Thirst is a thing. I assume you've gotten some info on that.", Quill said, and Shay nodded. "Good. Now how are you with Grandma Aleene and Grandpa Horus?", Quill asked, and Shay sighed. "I'm a bit uncomfortable with it. I mean, I come back and find out my best friend is fucking my husband.", Shay huffed, and Quill frowned. "You know, Grandma Aleene has never felt guilty about ditching Goldy, as he was an ass in his last days. But she did feel bad about lying to you. And Grandpa Horus has been having terrible night terrors about you, he feels like he betrayed you.", Quill explained, and Shay laid her head down on the table. "I know. But it's still hard.", she said, and a door opened nearby. Quill and Shay turned their heads to see Aleene. "Well, I need to go check on Kiddo. See you in the morning Grandmas.", Quill said, and left.

"Hello Shay.", Aleene greeted, and Shay glared. "Hello Aleene.", she replied. "I wanted to talk to you.", Aleene said, sitting a couple seats away from Shay. "About what?", Shay asked, and Aleene sighed. "Go be with Horus. He had another night terror, and I think you should help him this time.", Aleene said, and Shay looked surprised. "Really?", she asked, and Aleene nodded curtly, obviously distraught about doing this, but wanted to be nice. Shay immediately went into Aleene and Horus's room.

Aleene sighed as she checked the time.

It had been an hour since Shay had entered her room, and Aleene didn't know if she was coming out for the rest of the night. Aleene felt like she had been ejected from her room. Shay was back now. Aleene and Horus were through now. Aleene felt a few tears run down her cheeks.

Suddenly, Shay entered the room. "He's all your's now.", Shay said, but Aleene shook her head. "No, we can't keep doing this. We can't just trade off Horus constantly. We need to figure something out.", Aleene said, and Shay sighed. "What do you suggest we do then?", the fox asked, and suddenly, Aleene got a glint in her eyes. She had an idea. "You might not like this plan, but it'll work out the best in my eyes.", Aleene said, and began to whisper her ideas to Shay.
