Your Words

Your words are like hands wrapped around my neck. Choking me and taking away my breath. You know what to say to make life feel like death. But you say it's not your fault I'm an emotional wreck. In the past your words were like arms that held me close. They were warm and comfy, now they're rough and ice cold. That's not the way love is supposed to go. How do you claim to feel something that you fail to show. If you act like you hate me that's what you might as well say. Don't tell me you see a life with me when we're old and gray. Don't tell me you mention me every time you pray. And don't act shocked when I say I don't feel the same. It's no mystery that this is dysfunctional. You can't fool me, I'm not that gullible. Honestly, you are my greatest regret. I wish I never loved you, I wish we never met.
