Jake's POV
A love rival. That's what Blake is. We'll be fighting for Charlotte's love. I don't plan on losing to him.
It was finally Monday. My first day of school. I'm getting excited just by thinking about it. Charlotte and I will be classmates including Blake.
I was walking down to Charlotte's house so that we could walk together. "At least this will be the only thing that Blake wouldn't do with her, right?" I thought.
As I made my way to her house, I saw Charlotte with another guy and it was Blake. I clenched my fists but soon I relaxed. "I guess I was wrong..." I sighed.
I put on a smile as I made my way to them. "Morning guys~! You sure are up early in the morning." I cheered. "Good morning, Jake." they said in unison.
"You're pretty early too." Charlotte stated as I walked beside her while Blake was at the opposite side of her. "My mom woke me up really early just to check the school out and knowing you, you're always up at this hour just to go there." I grinned.
"Is that why you came here?" she asked and I just nodded. The thought of school came to mind and I was getting nervous with all the new people and introductions.
"Don't get nervous about school, Jake." she held unto my hand and I looked away covering my blush. This was another thing that makes me nervous.
She always does this whenever I get nervous and I still can't get used to it. Back then, I always end up blushing when she does it and laughs at how cute I was. It was annoying and frustrating but I'm glad she's happy.
"I can't believe you still blush when I hold your hand. It's pretty cute." Charlotte cooed. I kept looking away and tried to attain a calm facade. I could hear Blake stifling some laughs. "This is embarrassing. But at least... She's happy." I smiled to myself.
Blake's POV
"They look like little children..." I couldn't help but stifle some laughs at the thought.
I treat him as a love rival but instead of putting on fits of jealousy and rage I end up smiling and laughing at the scene in front of me. I guess seeing her happy in that manner makes me happy too.
"Love is quite intriguing... I wanna learn more about it." I looked over at the two and they were enjoying themselves.
~Time skip~
We were at school now, specifically the library. Jake went to see the principal in his office to get his class schedule.
I laid my head down on the table to indulge myself in the silence, only the flipping of pages could be heard.
"You still read regarding the migraines you get?" I glanced at Charlotte as she kept on reading. "It's fine. I don't get them that easily." she said, still focused on the book.
"Is it just me because you smile a lot whenever you're with Jake." I didn't really say it because I wasn't sure but because I was sure. They're close childhood friends, after all.
"It's just been a while since I last saw him. I want to create more memories with him... And you..." I shuffled on my seat.
"Did I hear that right? Create memories with me?" I smiled at the thought and hid my face to cover up the slight blush.
"I really want that..." I looked back at her with a slight tint of pink hues on my cheeks. I swear I saw a glimpse of her blushing a bit.
I chuckled a bit, "We're definitely going to make memories..." I smiled at the thought.
Jake's POV
"I'm definitely lost..." I thought as I scanned my surroundings. "Where am I?" I murmured to myself.
I looked around and kept walking. I should've at least remembered the path to the Principal's office since I went here with my mom to get registered for school.
I scratched my head in frustration. "Ugh..." I groaned as I wanted to ask someone for directions but realized that no one else has arrived.
"Maybe..." I tried to think of a resolution for this problem. "I have no sense of direction and a bad memory..." I nearly slumped myself on the floor, giving up.
"Need help?" an unfamiliar voice was heard from behind me. I looked at where the source was and it was a girl.
"You must be a new student here. Are you looking for the Principal's office?" I just nodded. "That's great! I have to get these papers there so do you want to be accompanied there?"
I was too focused on the girl's features that I didn't notice the pile of papers she was holding. "Let me carry that." I stated and quickly took the papers from her hands.
"Thanks! By the way, my name's Lucy. What's yours?" she grinned. "It's Jake." I mumbled, just enough for her to hear.
"She's nice and friendly." I thought looking forward."Don't be shy! Everyone feels nervous on their first day. You'll get friends soon!" she laughed loudly as she patted my back, painfully. "And noisy..." I sighed.
"Hey Lucy! Where are you going?" a guy called from behind. "Taking Jake to the Principal's office. What is it, Mark?" she stopped at her tracks and I followed suit.
"Charlotte is asking for her notebook back? You have it right?" Mark asked. "Are you Charlotte's friends?" I butted in their conversation when I heard Charlotte's name.
"You know Charlotte?" they both said in unison, all eyes were on me. "We're childhood friends, actually..." I trailed off, avoiding their gazes.
"I thought she didn't have any friends." "I thought so too but she is kind of an introvert so yeah..." they conversed and agreed with each others' statements.
"Who knew, huh?" Lucy half joked. "Yeah, I guess so." Mark agreed. "Um... Are you guys done yet?" I asked.
"Oh sorry! Come on, Jake. We'll accompany you and while we do that. Can you tell us more about Charlotte?" Lucy apologized. "Uh... Sure...?" I hesitated to agree.
"I can't believe our circle of friends is getting bigger!" Lucy cheered, raising both her hands to the sky. I chuckled, "So... Charlotte?" they asked. "Let's see... Ask me what you want to know."
Another friendship has blossomed in their little circle of friends...
