Charlotte's POV
Alright. It's showtime.
The play was this afternoon and everyone was getting ready. For half the day, we rehearsed our lines, checked the background sceneries, fit into our costumes and acted out some scenes EXCEPT for the kissing scene.
The director was contemplating whether to add that in or not and I was honestly more worried about that than he is. A kiss is a big deal for me. A very big deal.
And as much as I would love to get kissed, I honestly don't want to lose another kiss.
"Everyone sure is busy." I heard Jake say from behind me.
"Yeah... This is just as busy as doing schoolwork they forgot to do over the weekend." I agreed and turned to look at Jake.
I stared at him from head to toe and gave a confused look. "Shouldn't you be looking like a beast?"
He wore what Beast wore in the movie with just a bit of adjustments, a white long sleeved shirt under a somewhat blue overcoat for the top and for the bottom black pants tucked in his black boots.
He looked down at himself and shrugged. "I didn't make the costumes so don't blame me, princess." he defended.
I snorted, "Fair point."
"Oh there you are!" a voice said from behind. I turned around to see the director walking speedily towards us. "Good news,Charlotte! The kissing scene will still be on."
"What's so good about that?" Is what I wanted to say but I decided not to.
"The kissing scene with Blake is still on but only in the cheeks of course. The kids will probably be grossed out." the director rolled his eyes. "He'll be the one kissing you so you just stand there and look pretty."
I smiled and just nodded at that. "Woof." Jake said as soon as the director left.
I sighed then groaned and slumped my shoulders. "Kiss on the cheek is better than lips." I thought positive for once but that didn't stop the butterflies in my stomach.
"Just chill, babe."
I looked up at Jake and raised an eyebrow, "Babe?" I snorted.
"It was the only way to calm you down." he defended.
"Just telling me 'Don't worry about it, Charlotte. I'll be by your side all the way so calm down.' would have been better than 'Just chill, babe'." I tried imitating his voice but ended up with a bit too deep voice.
"You failed in imitating my voice, princess." he mocked.
"I'm sorry if I can't imitate such a perfect voice, darling. I ain't perfect like you." I retorted sarcastically.
"You know it, baby." he winked.
There was a moment of silence then we burst into laughter.
"Seriously?!" I said still laughing. "Baby? What's next? Sweetheart, pumpkin, dewdrop?" I clutched my stomach.
"If you want." he winked jokingly and we just kept laughing.
Blake's POV
I entered the auditorium a little bit late than usual due to some things when I saw the two laughing together.
I contemplated whether or not I should enter in their conversation. Hmm... Maybe not. I thought then went to the director that was coming closer to me.
"There you are, Blake. I was looking everywhere for you." he said in exasperation. "By the way, the kissing scene with you and Charlotte is still on. Only in the cheeks though." he informed and left as quickly as he came.
I processed the information given to me and my eyes widened when I got it. Kiss. Charlotte. Cheeks only.
I blushed a deep red, the thought of kissing Charlotte never came to mind though. I wasn't planning on taking away her first kiss... yet.
I cleared my throat and shook my head. It's just a kiss on the cheek, Blake. Just be cool.
"Hey Blake. Where were you? You're later than usual." a voice said from beside me. Charlotte's voice.
I was snapped out of my thoughts and turned to face her. "Hey Charlotte. I had stuff to do. That's why."
She replied with an 'oh' and avoided eye contact. An awkward silence enveloped us making it awkward, obviously.
"There you are, dewdrop." Jake came in breaking the silence between us but something he said caught my attention quickly.
"... Dewdrop?" I said slowly as if it were a new word. I looked at Charlotte for consolation but she just gave me a pathetic shrug.
"I'm just kidding." Jake said. "Dewdrop is a bit too much. I was just trying it out but princess is much better." he grinned.
"Are you ready?" Charlotte butted in. "For the play, I mean." she smiled lightly.
"Ready as I'll ever be. You?" I answered. A lump on my throat due to nervousness formed, making me want to choke.
"Yup. This is for the kids after all. What about you, Jake?" she nodded and looked at Jake.
"Sure. I was born ready." he smiled and ran his fingers through his hair.
"I can't wait." she grinned, looking excited and giddy.
I wish you were mine though. Too bad I'm not the only one that wants you all for myself.
~•~•~
Hey there! I finally updated the moment I conquered my laziness lol.
This is just a somewhat filler chapter though. The play scene will probably be in the next, just parts of it and not the entire play.
See ya!
