It was Friday now, and luke had ditched me twice this week already, which wasn't a shocker to me, but I was angry about it. I don't see why I keep trying if he isn't. It's not fair to me.

But he promised today would be just a day dedicated to us. So after school I had went to his house, waiting for him to get home. I knew he probably drove his girlfriend home but I didn't care. At least we get to hang out and finally get to have a sleepover. It's been a month since we've last stayed together due to him and his girlfriend.

"Is that Cleo?" I hear his brother Jack call from upstairs and he ran downstairs tackling me in a hug making me laugh.

"What's up kangaroo Jack," I smiled as I Ruffled his hair.

"Well I was playing some games, at least till I heard your voice. Where's Luke?" He asked and I shrugged.

"I think he gave his girlfriend a ride home. Hence why I beat him here," I said and he rolled his eyes asking me if I'd like to join him in a game of guitar hero, which I agreed too.

As we headed to his room, we played, which he was so much better than me, but he'd let me win a few times. How does his hands move that fast. I can barely do it on hard and he's hitting every single one on expert.

After we finished the last song, I tossed the controller to the side, giving up.
"Okay I'm done playing," I smiled as he sat back answering his ringing phone.

"Hey beautiful," he grinned, and I smiled. He's been dating this girl for three years, and engaged for one. Four years together is awhile. They're getting married next fall, which i'm excited for them.
"Yeah I'd love too, I'll be there soon, I love you," he grinned before hanging up.

"Well that's my que," I joked standing up making him chuckle as he grabbed his jacket and pulled it on

"Sorry to bail out on you, but i'm sure luke will be here soon," he said and I shook my head.

"All good in this good, Jack, have fun," I grinned giving him a hug before he left and I went back downstairs and sat and talked to Luke's mom for another half hour.

"Would you like me to call Luke for you? He's taking a long time," she asked and I shook my head giving her a weak smile.

"No, I'm fine, I think i'm just gonna head home," I said standing and she frowned.

"Oh sweetheart, Im sorry. I don't know why he does this to you. You know he loves you," she apologized for him and I shook my head.

"No it's fine, don't worry, Liz, I'm sure he does," I said hugging her goodbye and began walking back to my house. It was only five and a half blocks away, so I didn't mind walking.

Soon I got home and I sat on the couch beside a sleeping Wade. It was already six o'clock and Luke text me back finally but I was beyond piss and didn't want to hang out with him anymore. I just want to stay home.

Luke: Cleo are you not gonna hang out with me anymore???

Luke: I know i'm late but not too late. I'm sorry I had to run Ashley somewhere and it took longer than expected

Luke: don't be mad please :-(

Me: I don't want to hang out with you

Luke: i'm sorry. We can still have a sleep over with a movie night?

Me: I rather not so stop texting me

With that he tried calling but I turned my phone off, and made sure the door was locked so he didn't try to come over. As I was walking upstairs, I took a glance in to dads room and Lillian was sitting on their bed trying to paint her toes nails, making me laugh and she looked over at me smiling.

I walked in the room, and took a seat in front of her. She wore like pink pajama sweats and a white tank top with her light pink floral, silky robe on. Her blonde hair was tied into a loose pony tail with two strands left falling down her face.

"Need help?" I smiled, and she chuckled and nodding her hand as she passed me the nail polish and I began painting her toes.

"So, Im guessing Luke got busy?" She questioned and I sighed giving my shoulders a shrug.

"Lately that's all he's been. At least for me anyway," I said and she frowned, and stroked my arm.

"He'll come around. After all you guys are best friends. He's probably just excited that he's finally settled down with a girl. He's only ever known you," she said and I felt both relaxed and scared. It was true.

"I'm just scared that soon this little ditching is going to become a routine and our friendship will just end," I said and she frowned and sighed.

"You know what my mom told me?" She asked as I screwed the nail polish closed, finishing her toes.

"A friendship between a boy and a girl only ends in two ways; love or nothing at all," she said looking sincere as my heart sunk in to my chest.

"I don't know which is more frightening."

She gave me a small grin, "Love is scary, but it's the thrill of it that keeps you going. The little things. It really might not seem like it, but I promise you," she smiled and my father walked in to the room, just getting off work.

"Hey sweetheart," he smiled walking over to us, giving me a kiss on the forehead and Lillian on the lips. "I got you the card," he smiled and she took it and grinned at me.

"Little things," she whispered sending me a wink and I grinned too before walking off to my bedroom.
