"What were you all laughing about?" he asks me quietly. We both went to a completely unoccupied bunk to chat.
"It was an inside joke. Don't worry about it," I say looking away from him.
"I won't. Hey, about what Zoe said on the bus when we first hugged, did that bother you because you seemed upset?" he asks.
"Nah, I was just embarrassed that she mentioned it as soon as we hugged," I say.
"Oh, okay. Hey, um," he starts seeming nervous, "can I get another kiss? I really liked it the first time, and I haven't been able to bring myself to kiss any other girl."
"Really?" I ask, and he nods seeming a bit upset. I lean in and kiss him, making sure he understands how I feel towards him. I've liked him a lot since we first met, but I never told him because I was afraid he wouldn't believe me or like me back. When I pull back I can see the realization in his eyes, and I get up and scamper off to the bathroom. The blush on my face is probably the color of a firetruck. My breath is labored, and my heart feels as if it's pounding out of my chest. I check the door to make sure he isn't coming in then I pump my fist in the air, happy that I got my second kiss and from the one I love. I can't stop smiling either, and when I hear someone coming I go into a stall and begin to wait for them to leave.
"Delilah, are you in here?" Max asks.
"Um, yeah," I say trying to control the happiness. I'm guessing if this was a cartoon my eyes would be hearts, hearts would be floating out of my head, and rainbows would be every freaking where.
"Um, are you okay?" he asks.
"I'm amazing actually. How about you?" I ask trying to keep my voice normal.
"I'm good," he says.
"I only ran off 'cause I saw that you realized something," I say standing in the stall blushing like an idiot.
"Yeah, I know how you feel about me now," he says.
"Well, that's good, I guess," I say still blushing.
"Hey, wait a sec! Are you even using the bathroom or are you just standing in there hiding?" he asks.
"Um, the second one," I mumble.
"I knew it!" he whisper yells sending us into fits of silent laughter so we don't wake anyone.
"How'd you know?" I ask.
"I'm smart. Plus I could tell that you're standing up," he says it like he knows everything in the world.
"Haha very funny. Now do you mind?" I ask.
"Mind what?" he asks.
"You know, leaving," I say as if he should've already known.
"Aww how come? Too embarrassed to be around me now, huh?" he says, and I can tell he's smirking.
"Not gonna get me out that way," I say with a smirk of my own.
"Okay, fine by me, lover girl," he says. I literally growl.
"Don't call me that!" I scream, flying from the stall and attacking him. When I see the smirk on his face I understand what he did there.
"I got you out," he says cockily.
"Shut it. No need to get cocky," I grumble.
"I won't, and I'm not," he says smiling.
"You are so annoying sometimes," I say putting emphasis on the 'so'.
"But that's why you love me," he says putting emphasis on the 'love'.
"Ugh," I growl, flip him off, and start to storm out.
"Wait," he says grabbing my arm.
"What?" I ask tempted to pull away, but I don't.
"I love you, too," he says leaning in and kissing me again. I smile when he pulls back, after seeing the truth in his eyes.
"I'm going to bed. After today I could sleep like the dead," I say.
"Did you mean to rhyme?" Max asks with a chuckle.
"No, not really," I say laughing quietly.
"Haha, well, night," he says as we get into our separate bunks. As soon as my head hits the pillow I fall into a deep sleep.
