"I got this," he says and picks up speed. I see the sparkles dancing in his hand, and when he gets to the door and opens it he shoots the sparkles in every direction. The things drop, and I watch not able to do anything. All of a sudden Kellin is there, he hands me my knife and darts past me to fight. We all start killing the things as fast as possible, so that they can't get inside or hurt anyone. I hear a scream of agony and see that Kellin has accidentally stabbed Magic and in the process of trying to save him Kellin let his guard down. I see that they have become over run by the things.
"NO! YOU WILL NOT HURT THEM!" I scream flying toward the skirmish. I leap and stab anything that's moving, while watching to make sure my friends are not injured. I scream curses and let loose every cuss word I know. I scream and feel tears flowing down my face. There's like forty azoms and kizoms, and I can't break the numbers. "SOMEBODY HELP!" the words rip out of me. Red, Alex, Warren, Brandon, Max, Zoe, and a few others show up all wielding some form of weapon. They attack with me. All of us have one mission, and that's to save the people under this mass. After maybe thirty minutes there's only a few azoms and kizoms left. I stab them, and when I see my two friends I grab them and yank them out of the mass. Only Magic appears hurt, but Kellin looks horrified at what just happened. In all honesty it looks like he's scarred for life. He takes two steps, and that's when I see the huge gash in his arm. I almost panic, but I force it away. I need to be strong for the both of them because if I panic they'll panic. I walk over, grab Kellin's arm, inspect the wound, and drop his arm. I scoop Magic into my arms even though he's heavy and carry him to the medical room. Kellin follows me like I expected, and I have the medics check them both out. I turn to go find out what other casualties there were when someone carries Max in. On his side is a huge gash, and if it went any deeper his insides would be spilling all over the floor. I suck in a deep breath and turn to continue what I was going to do. When I walk out I see the group of kids not injured standing at the door watching intently inside. Red, Warren, and Alex show up, and when they see the tears in my eyes they reach for my knife. I shake my head and walk past them. Well, I at least try, but they stop me and wrap me in a group hug. I let out a sob, and then they let me go. I slip past them and walk out to where the battle happened. I see two other fallen kids, and I walk over to check for a pulse. Upon finding that they are alive, but unconscious I pick them up and carry them inside. One over each shoulder. I make sure I have a firm grip as I start walking for the infirmary. I hear the pained screams and attempt to block them out, but it's in vain as the agonized screams only get louder. I deposit the two other kids and walk out of the room. I head straight down the stairs and to the bathroom where I lost my cool. When I walk in I see the blood has dried and not been cleaned up. I sigh and walk past it into the stall. I do my business and before I finish Warren, Red, and Alex burst in.
"Delilah, stop!" Warren screams.
"Um, do you mind?" I ask.
"Mind what?" Red asks.
"I'm using the bathroom. Can you like leave please?" I ask politely.
"Oh, um, we thought you were...yeah," Warren says. I flush the toilet and walk out. They all are blushing, and Alex goes chameleon mode. I can tell by the looks on the boys' faces that they wish they could too.
"Your faces are priceless," I say doubling over in laughter. They glare at me, then Warren rubs the back of his neck. I laugh even harder as they walk out. "You won't live this down boys!" I call after them. Red flips me off, and I laugh harder. As I wash my hands I see the scabs on my wrists and think back to that day. I shake my head, dry my hands off, and walk into the other room to sleep. I don't care that it's like three in the afternoon I just want today to be over. I lay down, but every time I shut my eyes I see the wounded, and those I almost lost today. I won't be able to sleep for a while now. I sigh and sit up. I may as well go to the infirmary and help out. I roll to my feet and walk in the general direction. When I arrive I make myself useful however I can, and when I can't do anything more I go outside and pile the things up. I pour gasoline all over them and set them on fire. It's basically like a bonfire, but it's made out of dead things instead. I would imagine the air smells horrible, but most of my senses have gone to sleep or they aren't working. I'm not sure, but the tears that want to flow can't because the fire's so hot. The air probably reeks of rotten things, as if something dead has been decaying, but I can't smell it past my stuffy nose. After maybe an hour the warm happy fire goes out, and I turn and walk inside out of the chilly breeze that's picked up outside. The agonized screams hit my ears instantly, and I begin to cry silently.
