"What's going on?" he asks.
"I don't know, but I'm going to find out," I say. I turn and walk out to find Warren, Red, and Alex standing in the room arguing with the nurse on hand.
"But we wanna see him," Warren protests.
"No guests are allowed to see him at the moment. Sorry," the nurse says.
"Please, bruh," Red begs with a pleading hope in his eyes.
"Do not call me 'bruh'," she says.
"Please just let us in," Alex whines.
"I said no, and I mean it. Now-" I cut her off.
"What's going on?' I ask.
"These three want to see Magic, and I said no," the nurse says obviously annoyed.
"Well, you should let them one by one. Warren first, then Red, and then Alex. That way Magic isn't over whelmed. Your welcome for sorting a problem out that you should've been able to fix on your own," I say with a smirk on my face because I just outsmarted the nurse.
"Yeah, I should've thought of that. Go in that order, guys," she says bowing her head in embarrassment.
"Yes! Thanks, Delilah," Warren says giving me a friendly hug.
"No problem guys, but don't make me regret my decision," I say looking at them with a serious face. Warren goes in first, and maybe ten minutes later he comes out with tears in his eyes and on his face. He sits on the floor as Red goes in. I sit down next to him.
"He looks like he's in so much pain, and he's blaming himself for Kellin getting bit and cutting him. I wish I could make him feel better," Warren says wiping his eyes.
"I honestly have no idea how to help him. I wish I did though because we'd be in there cheering him up right now if we could," I say.
"Yeah, I agree," he says. Red comes out after ten minutes, and Alex goes in. Red's even quieter than normal, and his eyes are bloodshot. Warren gets up and goes to be with him, and Alex comes out after six minutes. Alex honestly looks like he's on the verge of an emotional breakdown. When I get up to go talk to him he turns invisible, and I know he's left the room. I have nothing more to say, so I go over and pat Red and Warren on the back before going back into Kellin's room. As I enter he turns towards me with curiosity on his face.
"Warren, Red, and Alex wanted to see Magic, and the nurse wouldn't let them. So, I went out, gave them permission, and talked after they came out. Warren says Magic's blaming himself for you cutting him and you getting bit," I say with a sad look on my face. I feel tears well in my eyes.
"You really care about Magic, don't you?" he asks.
"As a friend, yes. I care about every single one of my friends and worry about every single one of them as well," I say feeling the first tear run down my face.
"I thought that much. Do you have any upcoming plans for the near future?" Kellin asks.
"Yeah. As soon as I know every one of my friends is going to be okay and on their feet I'm going on a scavenging party. I'll probably take Calvin, Dylan, Brody, and Kasey. I'm only taking Kasey because she's a good medic if we need it," I say.
"Why not me?" he asks faking a look of hurt.
"Because I don't want you hurt plus you won't be up to snuff. I need fully able people to be going," I say.
"They say they're probably going to let me up tomorrow because I'm stronger, and my arms almost completely healed," he says with a happy look on his face.
"Yay! I'm so happy. Although tomorrow's when I was planning on going because I'm going to do a final round to check on my friends, pack some backpacks, and let those going know I've chosen them," I say.
"Oh, okay. I'll be here when you return then, I guess," he says looking a bit upset.
"Don't worry, as soon as I get back we will hang out for as long as we can stay awake," I say with a smile.
"Just be safe please," he says.
"I will. I need to go. I love you, Kellin," I say.
"I love you, too," he says. I stand and exit the room. I do a round and after seeing my other friends are all good I go to Jim's office.
"I need the intercom again," I say. He simply points to it and gives me a thumb up when I look at him. "I need Calvin, Dylan, Brody, and Kasey to come to Jim's office. It's important," I say, and when I kill the intercom I look over at Brandon. I see he has tape over his mouth.
"He wouldn't shut up, so I shut him up myself," Jim says seeing my confusion.
"Oh, okay. I was a bit confused by that. I honestly would've done the same thing," I say. The four people I called here burst into the room. They all double over except for Dylan.
"I've developed some amazing lungs running through this building as a messenger," Dylan says, and we both laugh.
"Okay, I called you all here because we are going on a scavenging party tomorrow. You four are going with me, and I need you all ready to go by eight am tomorrow morning. I know it's early, but the earlier we get started the quicker we finish. You all, okay with that?" I ask.
"Yeah, I can't wait for this. It's been a while since I went outside," Dylan says.
"I could do with a walk in fresh air," Kasey says.
"I would love to feel the wind in my face again. Smell the wonderful smells if there's any left," Brody says.
"Okay, I'll be ready before that," Calvin says, but I can tell he's not saying exactly what he's thinking. I see a look in his eyes that I know, but I'm not confirming anything yet.
"Good. Pack your backpacks tonight. Don't forget water, a snack, and a weapon. If you forget any of those you better hope someone brings extra because I'm only bringing what I need. Kasey, you need to bring a first aid kit. Other than that I don't think you should pack anything so your pack stays light," I say. They all nod and leave the room except for Calvin who waits for me. I stretch and yawn as we walk.
"You tired?" Calvin asks me as we walk down the hall.
"Yeah," I say. Then as we enter the room where we've been sleeping I remember something and say, "Oh, by the way, Kellin's getting out of the infirmary tomorrow, so you can go back to sleeping on a regular bed."
"Oh, okay," he says. I trip over something and fall into him. I accidentally kiss him, doing the trip and kiss number on accident. I pull back after like five seconds, and we both look at each other in awkwardness.
"Oops, I'm sorry," I say blushing and looking at the floor. I pretend it's the most fascinating thing in the world.
"It's fine. At least you didn't fall and hit your head," he says with a shaky laugh while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah, that could've been bad," I say. I lie down on the floor, and he lies down after turning off the light. For once I crawl over and snuggle into him. I can tell he's shocked, but he lets my cold body snuggle into him. He throws a blanket over us, and I soon fall asleep.
