Chapter 4

Austin's POV

As soon as Alan and I got home from New York, Alan was already packing to leave for Seattle in the morning. I assumed he was only going to be gone for a few days anyway so I wasn't too pissed that he was leaving again.

"You know I love you right?" Alan said quietly sitting beside me on the couch and cuddling up to me.

"Yeah I love you too." I told him and kissed the side of his head, "I love you a lot Princess."

"And I need you to know that this trip is two months long. Before you say anything, I know two months is a long time to for me to be away from the kids and all but I don't have a choice."

"Alan two months is a long time."

"I know and I don't want to go but I can't not go to work. This is my job Austin. I-I can't just quit."

"Well... you can." I mumbled.

"No I can't."

"Yes you can."

"No I can't."

"Why not?"

"Because I love my job Austin and I'm not going through looking for a job again."

"Yeah but you love us more don't you? Because I think being with your husband and your kids is more important than a job that takes you out of the state for two months at a time."

"Of course I love you guys. You and the kids are my entire world."

"Well it doesn't seem like it when all you do is work!"

"I work to help support this family!"

"We're doing just fine with the money from the shop!"

"Well that's great but it doesn't mean I have to quit my job!"

"I'm starting to think you like working more than you like being here!"

"You're joking right?"

"Do you see me laughing?"

"You seriously think that I like working more than being here, at home. You're a fucking idiot."

"Well you sure do act like you fucking do!"

"I don't! I hate working all the time but I can't fucking help it! You know that."

"We both know that you can! You just won't do anything about it!"

"I've tried to do stuff about it!"

"Not enough because now you're just leaving even longer than before!"

"I'm not asking to leave for two months! I was told to from my boss! I can't just throw everything away!"

"Yes you can! If my job was taking me away from my family as much as yours was I would start looking for another job!"

"It's not easy to just drop everything!"

'Yes it is!"

"No it's not! I can't drop everything!"

"Yes you can, you just don't want to. Admit it Alan, you're job is more important to you."

"It is not more important to me!"

"Whatever," I muttered rolling my eyes.

"Don't do that."

"Don't do what? Let's just drop it, we're not going to agree anyway."
