Chapter 8

Austin's POV

I held Alan's hand as he laid sound asleep in his hospital bed. He was admitted yesterday when we had come in. It was too dangerous for him to be at home. The kids were laying on the couch in his room fast asleep, well except josh.

He always had trouble falling asleep.

"Mom I can't sleep."

"Just close your eyes bud."

"I can't sleep though. I tried that already."

I looked at Alan then over to him, "Come here."

He ran over and I let him get on my lap. I let go of Alan's hand and held him.

"Is mama gonna be okay?"

"Yeah he's gonna be okay. This has happened before."

"Really?" He asked in a small voice.

"Mhm, it was a long time ago but mama got this sick."

"So he's gonna be okay?"

"Yeah he's gonna be okay." I said and kissed his head.

He nodded and rested his head on my chest, "I love you Mom."

"I love you too. Get some sleep, okay?"

"Can I sleep with Mama?"

"Yeah just be careful of the tubes and stuff, okay?"

"Okay," he mumbled and crawled on top of the bed and got under the blankets with Alan.

Alan's eyes fluttered open and he smiled down at Josh, letting him get comfortable.

"Hey Sweetie," he said quietly, kissing the top of Josh's head.

"Hey mama." Josh said cuddling up to Alan.

"Couldn't sleep?"

"Mhm. Mom said I could sleep with you."

"Of course you can." Alan said, "Now get some sleep okay?"

"Okay mama."

Alan smiled and looked at me, "You need to get some sleep Aust."

"I'm fine Princess. I slept earlier." I said quietly.

"Babe, get some sleep. The nurses can bring you a pull out like they did before."

"I'm fine. I wanna be up just in case something happens or one of the kids need me."

"They can wake you up then, you need to sleep."

I sighed, "Fine I'll go get a cot or something."

"Thank you."

"Mhm," I hummed and stood up. "Now get some sleep Princess. You need it."

"I wanna wait till you're back."

"Alright, but then you better get to sleep mister."

"I will, I promise."

I smiled and kissed the top of his head. "I love you."

"I love you too Aust."

"I'm still so sorry." I said quietly.

He gave me a sad smile, "I know you are. Now go get a cot."

I nodded and went on to talk to a nurse about my sleeping arrangements.

I got a cot from one of them and went back to the room. Alan was sitting up and holding josh while he slept.

"Princess, get some sleep." I said quietly, setting the cot down.
