Ron, Hermione and I sat in my bedroom, stroking the lion and waiting.

Waiting for Remus. Moony.

Sirius and Lily were downstairs waiting, too. We were passing the time with some wizarding chess, and Ron was beating me. By a lot. I huffed in annoyance as my pieces yelled at me, angry at the losses.

"Oh, shut up," I muttered, moving a night that. Viciously smacked a pawn off the board.

"Nice move, mate," Ron said, contemplating his options.

"Do you think it worked, though?" Hermione said, her brown eyes filled with concern. She shut her book and leaned forward.

"What? Of course it worked, Hermione. Did you see his face? Blubbering like an idiot. He was already halfway here before we turned the mirror off." Ron snickered, and mercilessly knocked yet another one of my pieces off the square.

"That's not possible, otherwise he'd be here already," Hermione said, looking back to her book.

I snorted and Ron scowled. Then his face brightened as he thought of something. "The Chudley Cannons won last night," he exclaimed.

"Neat," I said. I loved quidditch.

The day passed by slowly and we fell into a dull stupor, the lull of the evening overcoming us all.

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Remus eventually did come home, and a tearful reunion took place. We hugged and played many games of wizarding chess and exploding snap. Remus and Hermione took a liking to each other, talking about their favorite books and other subjects.

Unfortunately the next day also passed quickly, and we were hurried along to the living room, where our trunks sat. In the middle lay an old Muggle alarm clock. Ron and I, having realized it was a Portkey, reached out and touched it immediately.

"Hurry up, 'Mione! Touch it!" Ron said, as the clock began to glow a bright blue. I felt the strange hook behind my navel begin to pull, and I closed my eyes as we disappeared in a flash of bright light.

"Welcome back, Potter, Weasley, Granger," Professor McGonagall said coolly. "You have much work to complete. I expect you will get it done. Now, there is dinner being served in the Great Hall. I will see you there." She looked back to her desk and picked up her quill. After a bit she looked up again, amused. "Go on. " We quickly hurried out.

We sat at the Gryffindor table next to Seamus Finnegan, and gratefully grabbed a plate of steaming food.

"Where on earth were you lot?" He said curiously.

"Situation at home," I said, and picked out a roll.

"But--them? Why were they with you?"

"None of your beeswax," said Ron coolly. Hermione looked exasperatedly at us.

"For heavens sake, you two! There was simply a situation at home where Harry's dog was missing. We had to go look for her. " What was Hermione doing?

"You got school off for that?" Dean had sidled up next to Seamus.

"She's not a normal dog," I offered lamely.

I sighed in relief when they started shrugging it off.

"All right. But blimey, I want to miss school. Classes are sooo hard," Dean continued. Hermione snorted.

"If you actually studied the wand movements and such, maybe you'd learn...."

I tuned out of the conversation for a while. I stood up as we were dismissed to our dormitories.

Ron fell asleep almost immediately, but it was taking me a while. Dean and Seamus I could hear, their soft snores filling the silence.  As I tossed and turned, I rolled onto a package. Surprised, I sat up, hoping it wasn't from Fred and George.

There was a note attached to the thin paper:
Dear Harry,
Use it well.

A. P. W. B. D.

The handwriting was vaguely familiar. The long, slanted curves and thin lines. But who was A. P. W. B. D? I felt like I should know. I shrugged, and ripped the thin paper to find a soft, velvety fabric in the color of soft grey. I stuck my hand underneath, and was remotely surprised not to see anything. An invisibility cloak!

I threw it around my shoulders and crept from the room. It took me a moment to realize that someone might not be thrilled to find my head floating in midair, so I pulled up the hood and crept from the portrait hole.

The feeling was enormously thrilling; and also very very scary. I had the power to do anything I wanted, without anyone ever knowing. I was almost shaking from excitement. I had to show Ron! But not right now. It would be nice to have the first run-through alone.

I wandered the halls,  coming to a mysterious unmarked door. Inside was nothing but a mirror, reflecting the dim light from the open door.

In the mirror was me. With Sirius and Remus.

And a short, spiky haired man with glasses and hazel eyes.

A woman with long red hair and green eyes like mine.
