-THE YULE BALL-
I stared at myself in the mirror, and touched my dark curls one last time. Perfect. I took a deep breath, and then let it out in a sigh. I hoped Draco would like it. The dress I was wearing was a simple, strapless black dress with black converse. I walked to the Great Hall, through the big doors, and walked up to Draco. I tapped him on the shoulder, and he whirled around. His blond hair was neatly parted and down. He was wearing a black tux white a white shirt underneath, and he looked quite dashing. Not that I would ever tell him that. His head was big enough as it is.
"Woah." He said, finally facing me. His eyes got huge, and he finally stuttered, "You...You look great, Sage!"
"Thanks." I said, grinning. Autumn and Clara came up to us, and we all began ooing and aahing over each other's dresses. Autumn had chosen a simple blue dress with royal blue converse, and Clara had gone with a dress with a white top and a blue skirt.
The Triwizard Champions strode in with their dates, and the first dance began. Then slowly, more and more people joined the middle of the dance floor. Draco turned to me, bowed low, and asked,
"May I have this dance?" I gave him a wide smile and my hand, and said,
"You may." Draco took my hand, and he led me to the edge of the floor. He took my waist, and we started twirling around the dance floor, and he lifted me up when necessary. He was smiling more than I'd ever seen him smile, and while his cronies looked on in confusion, he continued to whirl me around. Finally, we walked off the dance floor.
"You want something to drink?" Draco asked me as we sat down.
"Yeah, sure." I said, smiling.
"Okay. I'll be right back." Draco pressed my hand to his lips, and walked off. As soon as he was gone, Autumn and Clara came and plopped next to me, anxious, I was sure, for the gossip on me and Draco.
"Soooooo, what's the deal with Sago?" Autumn pressed me, leaning in.
"Well, uhm, me and Draco are here as friends..." I began.
"BOORRINNGGG." Clara interrupted, grinning so much I though her cheeks would hurt.
"I ship it." Autumn whispered, smiling.
"OH MY GOD. Guys! We're just friends! I swear!" I protested
"Yeah, mate? In case you didn't notice, which just for the record I did, HE KISSED YOUR HAND. I BELIEVE THAT CONSTITUTES A BEGINNING OF A RELATIONSHIP RIGHT THERE." Clara almost screamed. At this point, the two of them were grinning like serial killers closing in on their next victim, which, unfortunately, would be me. That should be a movie. The Fangirl Murderers, coming to a theatre near you!
"Guys. Seriously." I fixed them with my most I'm-dead-serious look. They looked at each other and smiled, and then, super creepily, both said,
"You. LIKE. HIM."
"Admit it!" Autumn protested. At that very moment, Draco came back with two glasses of butterbeer. My friends both fell back on their most innocent grins.
"Ladies." Draco said, bowing. "Sage, do you wanna go dance some more?" He asked with a shy smile.
"Sure! See you guys later." I said to my friends, and Draco led me out onto the dance floor, and he kept me there until the end of the Yule Ball. I looked over my shoulder and smiled at my friends before walking away. Autumn had thought that I hadn't seen her with Brady Tennant, but she was very wrong. I would have to interrogate her later.
