Chapter 9

Hide's POV

I wish I could say things were back to normal, but that would be far from the truth.

I fell in love with a boy
He had raven black hair
Soft grey eyes
A kind warm smile
His touch was gentle and sweet
Over all he was adorable
Isn't that the perfect guy

The man beside me was not the same person I once knew..... but this other man I am also in live with and I know deep down the other Kaneki is still there.

I looked into Kaneki's eyes they were full of sorrow and his face emotionless, he didn't talk much and when he did it was in short sentences.

I had moved in with him to make things easier and right now I layed beside him snuggled against his warm body, but he didn't seem to care. As for my parents, they probably think I am dead by now.

Looking at him just hurt me he just wasn't the same.... he wasn't bad. No, not at all, but I couldn't help but think about who he used to be.

Would I ever again feel the love of the Kaneki I once knew. I took his hand in mine and squeezed it. A single tear slipped out of his eye.

Maybe he wasn't as emotionless as I thought. It almost felt like looking at a stranger, his eyes they weren't the same, now they held so much more pain.

"Kaneki...." I whispered. He looked at me with.... those eyes. His face wasn't the same either, now he had dark bags under his eyes, it wasn't his usual, 'I didn't get much sleep last night' bags it was more like he hadn't slept in weeks.
"Kaneki...." I said again.

"Get some sleep you look so tired," I spoke to him. He just starred at me and blinked like he couldn't even understand me.

I caressed the side of his face and looked him in the eye. Even his face felt different, somehow he seemed more like a man than before, who knows what he had to go through.

I kissed him softly and he closed his eyes for sleep as I did the same. I rested my head on the silver haired man's chest and said one last thing before going to sleep.

"I really do love you Kaneki." The way I said his name seemed to echo.

The ghoul just gave a, "hmm," in response and we both drifted into sleep.

Kaneki's POV

He doesn't love me the same....
He deserves someone better, he's such a sweet boy. He risked his life, No. He gave up his life as a human to save who? To save me. He's got to still love me. Or maybe that's what friends do for each other.

I wouldn't really know besides Hide and the people at Antieku were the only friends I'd ever had. Then again Hide wasn't your average friend, we are lovers, that much is for sure.

I looked at him, his head on my chest his eyes closed softly. I ran my fingers through his hair and he shifted in he sleep. I heard him mumble something incoherent under his breath and his whole body seemed to shake.

I pulled the blanket up over his body and held him tight. I'm so lucky to have this boy with me, I will never forgive myself if I let something happen to him. Then I seemed to drift off into sleep still holding my orange haired freak, that I loved without end.

Hide's POV
Dream

I saw a man standing over me, black hair, soft grey tear filled eyes as he starred down at me. Those tear filled eyes looked at me with what looked like regret... It was hard to tell where he was or why he was there and for some strange reason my mind couldn't put a name on him. It was hard to tell but judging by the equipment behind him but, it looked like he was in a hospital. Standing over my bed, but why would I be in a hospital...

I woke up with heavy breathing trying to remember the dream I just had but it just wasn't there, like something just out of reach by centimeters. I reached and reached for the memory but I couldn't grasp it.

I decided to let it go... what could it mean anyways it just bugged me how I felt like it was important. My gaze was directed to the alarm clock on my dresser, the time read 4:32. Too early I don't want to wake Kaneki up. I felt Kaneki's body shift and I closed my eyes again pretending I was alseep.
