- Prologue -

I'm standing here, deep breaths escaping from me. Pressed down, all black suit and tie but not for a happy occasion. Here, in a quaint little church in the middle of town. Roses and tulips decorated all around, her favorite. I see family, some I knew about and some I'd never seen before. Some that knew me, some that didn't. They didn't know about us, that's for sure. Everyone was here, every person that'd hurt her, brought her pain, helped her make the decision she'd made on that dark night, was here. They were crowded around her body, tears falling from their faces like they actually cared for her. Her dad was here, drunk as always, weeping away the alcohol from his system, yelling "Why? My baby girl.." I just wanted to punch him in the throat, make his fake tears subside. All of these people here didn't know her like I did, the real her, not the one they had thought up in their mind to make up for the fact they were never there. I wish I could bring her back, go back in time to stop her from downing those pills and save her from the pain that caused her to take her life. But now I have to sit and watch her lay there, lifeless and cold in a coffin. The girl that life took away from me, my angel who got her wings, the one who I'll love like no other. My fallen soldier.
