I watched her go in a state of confusion. I'd never seen her out here before, but why did she run away? I don't think I'm that scary. Okay, I kind of understood why she would run away, considering the fact I was watching her from behind a tree and I just stared at her. When she ran off, she tugged at her sleeves and something flew from her wrist. I came from behind my hiding place, walking over to see a shiny, beaded charm bracelet in the grass.
It had several charms decorated on it, only a small gap between them. I twirled the bracelet between my fingers, examining the designs. My eyes wandered up to look further into the woods, I could see her sprinting ahead. I snapped out of gaze, shoving the bracelet into my pocket and taking off after her, "Hey! Wait!"
I sped off quickly on my feet, ducking and weaving between through the trees. I saw her silhouette moving as swiftly as a cheetah, it was a wonder I was catching up to her. She was pretty fast, but I was a lot faster. I lost her a few times in the brush, she knew how to hide, especially with a guitar in hand. She was agile, jumping over logs and sliding through thinly spaced trees. She turned back to me, judging the distance between us, "Wait!!!"
She started to slow down, still sprinting but she was losing her breath. I was only a few feet behind her, I could hear her panting. I reached out for her, snatching her wrist, "Stop!"
She stopped. Her face was flushed, her hair stringy on her face. Her chest was heaving in and out as her eyes went down to her wrist, then back up to me. She tugged on her sleeve again, "What!?"
Everything slowed, her eyes met mine once more. It felt like hers were telling me a story, the way they darted back and forth. It wasn't a happy story though, it started off that way but it got darker and darker every second. I mumbled to myself, I was going to say something but the words didn't form. Instead "uhhs" and "ums" came out. She was staring at me, eyes full of hope, even though the rest of her looked scared. She said something but I didn't understand her. She cocked her head in the direction of a raunchy house beyond the trees, she pulled me down, squatting behind a bush. Her attention kept going back to the house. She turned back one last time, a wave of fear rushing across her face as she frantically pulled away from my grasp, "I have to go!!!"
I watched her storm inside. I stood up, coming from behind my hiding spot. I started to walk slowly until I saw a rugged, raspy looking man approaching from beside the house.
"Hey, you! Boy!" He looked extremely intimitading. His muscles flexed through his shirt, his voice was gruff, he looked like a heavy drinker, "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Me?" I looked around, he was stomping towards me, his footsteps pounded and I may be exaggerating, but I could swear the ground shook. I backed away, losing my footing and falling into muddy grass. My eyes focused back on the house, seeing a figure staring back at me, then back onto the mean man who was galloping towards me. I shuffled onto my feet and took off into the woods. The man followed me, it felt like he was right on my back so I didn't bother to turn around and check.
I ran faster than ever, being able to hear him behind me made me twitch. He called out after me, yelling profanity in my direction. My heart pounded in my chest, I was on a chase for my life, or that's how it felt. Branches hit me everywhere, even ones I thought I dodged, my foot was sinking into the ground in wet places. My tanktop was dowsed in my sweat and my jacket didn't make it any cooler. I listened for his footsteps again but they weren't there. I paused between two trees, my eyes shooting in every direction.
Out of nowhere, a surge of pain shot through my body from my stomach. I collapsed to the ground, doubling over in pain. I could barely breathe, the wind had been knocked out of me and I was crawling around on the ground. Someone kicked me onto my back, his tall figure towering over me, "Stay away from my house and my daughter, you little fuck. You got that?"
I nodded, he jogged off back to his house. I rolled over, dry heaving in the dirt. I spat, wiping my hand across my face. It was covered in dirt, so were my clothes. Where did he come from? Meooowwww. A tiny tongue rubbed across my face, seeing it was Romo, "There you are..."
I pushed myself up, staggering to my feet. I picked him up and put him under my arm. I lifted my shirt where I'd been punched, revealing a bluish-purple bruise taking shape, "Shit..."
I fingered my pocket, pulling out the charm bracelet. I had forgotten it was there. I huffed, it was the reason I chased her in the first place and it ended with me getting the wind knocked out of me near my own backyard. Romo purred in my arms as I walked up to my door. I examined myself in the glass. Twigs in my hair, sweat pants torn across the knee, and my face and hands had small cuts on them. I looked like hell.
I heard bags rustling when I slid the door open. My mom was standing in the kitchen putting up groceries, her hair pulled back in a messy bun. She'd taken off her make up and threw on lounge-around-the-house clothes. We both exchanged glances, hers worryful, mine blank. I slid the door closed and dropped my cat, "I found Romo."

A/N: I am finished... Showing favoritism is bad but I'm doing it with this story right now. I have another one but I don't want to work on it really. If this part is bad, I'm sorry. I freestyled this, no plan, no anything but my brain. And I typed from my phone so I have to go back and edit it. Thanks for reading!! Vote, Comment, & Share???(:
