It was the middle of the night.I couldn't sleep. All I could think about was Carter. He's completely done now.I just can't believe it.He has a new love interest. And she's not me.I guess I have to accept that.Time to go on with life.Carter was the only one that tried to be with me.What if no one else tries?I'll be forever alone. Those were my thoughts as I tried to sleep that night.

I heard a knock at the door.

"Hey Yaz.Do you have your charger?I can't find mine and I'm in the middle of a convo with Teresa."Carter smiled when he said her name.

That hurt.I didn't want it to but it did.

"Sure.Right over there."I pointed to the outlet.

Carter picked it up."Gracias."

"Wait,Carter?"I didn't know why I was stopping him.

I was scared.Of being lonely,I think.

"Yeah Yaz?"He asked ,putting the phone on his shoulder.

"Um...I...never mind.You can go.Forget it."I laughed with no emotion.

Carter shrugged and left the room.

I bit my lip as I urged my tears not to come down.I will not cry over a boy.I will not. He's not worth my tears.I am a strong black women who need to save her tears for important things.

I screamed and let the tears flow because it hurt keeping them in.And eventually went to sleep.

I sat at my desk, clicking away.I was working the phone calls at the station.I hated doing it because it was a lot of pressure.

"Hello.Its 911 what's your emergency?"I answered.

"Its me.Ken.How are you sweety? Are you ready to die?"He asked. My eyes popped out my head.

"What?"I asked.

"Oh you have been getting my threats, right? Aren't you gonna stop me?"He asked. My breathing became quick as I tried to trace the phone call.No location. What the hell?

Now what?

:3
I was up all night trying to figure out where Ken was.

I sipped my coffee and typed more.

Crap crap crap.

Its not working.Ugh! I screamed and threw my laptop.

"Hey.You okay ?"Carter asked, coming in the room.I rolled my eyes.Always coming to the rescue I swear.

"Im fine. You can go."I sighed as I picked up my laptop.

"You don't look fine.Stressed is more like it."He sat beside me,pulling me close.

I gave him a look.He smiled.

"Don't you have a girlfriend?"I asked,moving away.

Carter chuckled."I guess. Its not official yet but sure. What does that have to do with us?"He questioned, peering at me.

It has to do with us because I don't know you have a girlfriend.

"Just never mind. You can go if you want I don't need your help."I banged on the keyboard.

Ugh.

"You clearly do."He picked up the laptop, hit a few keys and voila perfect. How the hell does he do that? Its not fair.

"What were you trying to do?Shop online?"Carter snickered. Why do I like this boy?

"No.I got a call from Ken at work threatening me with bomb threats. But I couldn't trace the call.Have any ideas?"I asked.

Carter nodded.

"Okay so what did it say when the number came up?"He asked, taking the laptop.

"No location."

"When a number says no location most times it means an abandoned house or place. The only types close by are on Maple Grove and Ester street."He clicked around on the screen showing me the two houses.

"What else can no location mean?"I asked.

"Dead ends, free ways or highways.None of those have places to sleep."He shrugged like the info he carries was for dummies.

"Woah..."I whispered.

"Maybe we can check out the houses together?"Carter asked, quietly.

"Yeah.Who knows I might need the protection."I grinned, closing the laptop.

"Well I gotta make reservations for my date with Teresa.See ya later Yaz."He left the room.

Sigh.

I went to my mailbox early that morning before work.Always have to check it for important police information.

I opened it up and took out the mail.
A letter marked unopened popped out at me.

"What the hell? "I asked as I ripped it open

Prepare to die

I dropped the letter.
