You were walking through clouds, literal clouds. Mindlessly wandering, not hoping to find anything in particular. When you looked to what was around you it was pieces of your history, playing out over and over again. You walked over to one of the screens, just wanting to see what it was. It was a memory of how you met Wirt, all those years ago. You placed your hand tenderly on the screen, only to be pulled in. When you opened your eyes you were 6 years old again. You were small, very small. You were in the middle of getting ready for school, changing your clothes, brushing your hair, ect. Once you were finished you kissed your mom goodbye and walked to the bus stop. Although you couldn't remember the event clearly, it was as if it had happened yesterday, you knew exactly what to do. Where to go. You waited patiently at the bus stop, anxious to see that large yellow vehicle rumbling down the road. You were usually alone at the bus stop, but since your bus stop was very close to home your mom trusted you to keep yourself safe. You were about to start kicking a rock when you heard steps coming down the sidewalk from behind you. You spun around quickly to see who it was. It was a boy, he was a bit taller than you, and he had messy brown hair scattered across his face. His cheeks were big and rosy, but aside from his intricate features he wore a plain sweater and jeans. "Hi there!" You say cheerfully and walk over. "U-Uh..." He attempted to stutter out something. "Are you ok?" You ask him, his look and actions concerning you. "I-I Uh..." His cheeks grew a darker shade as he once again failed to speak to you. "Are you scared of me?" You ask sadly, "I'm sorry if I look scary-" "N-No! You don't look scary..." He reassures you. "You're beautiful actually.." He mutters so quietly you wouldn't be able to hear him even if you were standing next to each other. "My name is (Y/n), what's yours?" You ask him. "W-Wirt.." He says. You giggle and he tenses up, "I-I'm sorry, I know my name is weird I-" "I like it." You interrupt. "What?" He asks, genuinely confused. "Your name, I think it's cute." His face turns a deep shade of red. "I like your name too! It's.. Beautiful.." He says to you. "You giggle and blush slightly, he was just so adorable you couldn't resist. "Do you want to sit next to me on the bus?" You ask him. "Y-Yes!" He says happily. Suddenly you see the bus coming down the road, the old wheels soon coming to a squeaky stop. Soon everything fades away and you're standing on that cloud again. Tears of happiness were in your eyes. You remembered every moment of it. How happy you were to meet someone like him. You didn't care if he tossed you off a cliff, you would always stay by his side, to repay him for what he did for you, kept you alive. You walk to another screen, touching the screen again. You fade into another memory, this time you awoke to an 8 year old self, 2 years after you and Wirt met. You two were sitting in his room, you were showing him a fortune teller you learned to make from your friend (f/n). "1, 2, 3, 4! Choose another number!" You say. "Uhh... 5?" He says, not caring too much. Ever since he realized everything that was happening with his parents he had become a lot more serious. He was always so mature for his age. "Alright." You opened up the fortune teller and read what was inside. "'The girl you like likes you too.' Wow that's cool Wirt!" You say giddily. "That means Sara likes you too!" You say to him, suddenly his expression drops slightly and his face turns red. "Heh.. Yeah..." He says. "Are you alright Wirt?" You ask in concern, placing down the fortune teller. Although you were childish you had always acted sort of Motherly towards Wirt. He needed the protection in all honesty. He had the literal worst time making friends. "Hm? Yeah I-I'm fine just... Thinking.." He says, turning away. "Wirt...I know you're lying.." You tell him, wanting him to spill his thoughts to you. He stayed silent. You grab his hand and he looks at you, "You know you can tell me anything Wirt, I'll always be right here for you." And suddenly, you were back on the cloud. You remembered that too, how much fun you two had together, how much you helped him through. You walked to another screen, farther away from the rest, it was cracked and almost broken. You gently placed your palm on the screen, you were now 13, a pubescent teen who was going through some depression. You were crying, you had just gotten into an argument with your parents, your best friend, you failed your math test, embarrassed yourself in gym, and your boyfriend had dumped you. You weren't as sad about the last part as much as everything else, You knew middle school relationships were a bad idea. You just said yes to the guy out of pure pity. You considered cutting yourself for the millionth time. But you always thought you could never do it. But you were desperate to stop the pain, you got some rubbing alcohol and a bandage so no one would question you about it. You brought the razor to your upper thigh when you heard a knock on your door, startled you knocked over the bottle, it rolling to the other side of the room. The razor was close to your skin but it hadn't cut you thankfully. "Who is it?" You ask, annoyed. "Uhh.. It's me, Wirt.. Can I come in?" You pulled your pant let down quickly, tossing the razor and bandages in the drawer. "Yeah, hold on a sec..." You pat your cheeks with a tissue, wiping the tears from your eyes. You walked over to the door and opened it up, being faced with a concerned Wirt. "Hey.. Are you alright? You seemed upset on the bus. I thought I'd come and see if you were alright." He explains. You smiled at him and gave him a hug, he wasn't surprised. He knew you loved hugs, especially his hugs. "I-I'm fine... I'm fine now Wirt.." You say quietly. You let him in your room. "Hey, why is there a bottle of rubbing alcohol on the floor?" He asks, pointing to the small bottle laying sideways on the floor. "U-Uh that? I just.. I'm clumsy you know? Heheh..." You say, nervously tossing it in the drawer. "What was that in there?" Wirt says sternly. "What? What do you mean? Just.. Stuff you know..? Anyways lets-" He tugs open the drawer and pulls out the razor. "You...You weren't.." Tears began springing from your eyes. "Let me see your leg." He says to you. "What? I-I" "Let. Me. See. Your. Leg." He says, walking over to you. You pull up your pant leg, revealing nothing. "Other one." You pull up your other pant leg to once again reveal nothing. He sighs in relief and puts the razor down on the dresser. "You weren't going to were you?" He asks, obviously wanting the truth. "I-I was.. I'm... Sorry." At this point you began sobbing. "No! No! No! Please don't cry (Y/n)! Please!" He sits next to you and hugs you tightly. Letting you rest your head on his chest. "It's alright... Shh... I'm not mad..." After a minute he grabs hold of your shoulders and pushes you up, staring you straight in the eye. This made your stomach flip, and your cheeks flush. "I want you to promise me something... That you will throw this razor away... and you will never touch it ever again. Not this razor, not any other razor.. Ok?" "...Ok." And suddenly, you were back. You remembered that was when you had began to feel for Wirt, how you had realized that he was a great guy, how he had always been there for you. You had fallen for your best friend. You have fallen for him. The rest of the screens spiraled into a dark pit, all filled with dark memories of him. But instead of looking into those you turned around and walked away. Soon met with an edge. You stared down into it, although it went down, the whole place was light. You lifted up your heels and leaned forward, falling into the light.
