We got back to my house about eleven'o clock, Elliot's grandma sure could hold a conversation. I laid down in my bed exhausted as Elliot fell beside me. "You handled tonight perfectly." Elliot whispered as he pulled me closer. I nodded and leaned into his body. We hadn't even changed out of our clothes from dinner yet. It was so weird to think about just how different life has become I don't think I'll ever get used to it because life hasn't slowed down in forever and it's so hard to take it all in when I barely have time to breathe anymore. I heard Elliot's phone go off and He untangled us to answer it."Hello?" He breathed into the phone. "Yeah, we'll be right there hold on." I saw his face drop as he said that. "Grandpa had a heart attack." He said breathlessly. I shot up and grabbed my keys and phone and walked hand in hand with Elliot to the car. I drove because I knew Elliot was in no position to be driving he was zoned out. We reached the hospital and I lead him inside. I saw his grandma all puffy eyed. Elliot went and embraced her as soon as we got close enough. I figured they were going through a lot right now. I took a seat as his grandma told us what was going on right now. Basically they were laying in bed and he started saying his chest was hurting and stood up to get some heart burn medicine and was so dizzy he fell and hit his head. Right now they were trying to figure out how bad the heart attack was. Elliot sat beside me his knees bouncing up and down. Elliot's grandma had left Brooke with their neighbors.
It was almost midnight before the doctor finally made an appearance. "He is stable right now, but visiting hours are over right now, you can come see him in the morning." I saw the two of them let out the breath they must have been holding in since they found out what had happened. They nodded. Elliot turned around and hugged me, I smiled gently and hugged him back. "Come on gorgeous let's go home." I nodded as a yawn slipped out of my mouth. He gently rubbed my back, it truly had been a long day. "Let me drive" I told him as we exited the hospital. He didn't try to argue with me and just handed me the keys.
Me and Elliot had been through so much since we met those few years ago. I never saw my self with a guy I met at the beach it was just crazy, but in the best way. We finally got home I sat on the edge of the bed. Elliot reached into the nightstand, and pulled out a small velvet box. I felt my self start freaking out, was he going to propose? Was it just a present? "You can calm down, angel." He opened it and I saw a ring, it was silver, it created a knotted heart, and was covered in diamonds. "It's a promise ring. A promise that I'll love you forever and always. It's a promise I'll always be by your side. It's a promise one day we'll be married and have a life of our own. It may not start right now but it is a promise I plan on keeping. You truly are the best thing to ever happen to me. I don't deserve you, you are the best thing to ever happen to me. I will spend forever trying to make up for those mistakes we both made when we first met. No matter what I'm not leaving you." He said before slipping the ring on my finger. I got down in the floor where he was and kissed him. "I love you so much Elliot." I mumbled against his lips. He grinned and we stood up.
"We should probably start getting ready for bed."
I nodded and grabbed my clothes and went to the bathroom and changed. I came out and laid down in bed beside Elliot. He had already had fell asleep. I closed my eyes, after a few moments I felt him grab me and pull me closer. I felt a grin dancing on my lips as I slowly fell asleep.
I woke up a few hours later and heard something downstairs. I noticed Elliot wasn't in bed. I crept down the hall to the top of the stairs, I saw Elliot standing by the window looking outside. "Babe?" I asked quietly. "Go back to bed." He said, and I felt my stomach drop when he did, his voice broke as he spoke. I climbed down the stairs and walked over to his side. I saw the tears freely falling down his face.
"Elliot?"
"I just miss them so much, you have no idea how much I wish they were here. The way my mother's eyes would light up as she met you for the first time after all the talking I did about you. The way my father would embarrass me and you'd laugh along with him. The way they'd both fall in love with you as much as I have. The way my mother would glow on our wedding day as you walked down the isle like something straight out of heaven. The way they'd love their grandchildren unconditionally." He managed to choke out, before falling to the ground shaking with sobs.
