   My mate rejected me.

She knocked on the door.

Damn, I didn't think that would've bothered me this much.

Again with the knocking.

I mean, I knew this could have been a possibility. I'm a hybrid, after all.

And another time.

I didn't open the door. There was no point in talking. I just needed to be by myself. My mom didn't stop knocking, though.

"I know you don't want to talk to anyone, but could you let me in?"

Her voice sounds so gentle, as if she thought I'd break. I sat up from my bed and walked straight to the door and swung it open, lifting my chin and staring my mom straight in the eye. A slow smile took up her whole face.

"I didn't mean to make you look weak," she said softly, coming in and closing the door behind her.

I went back to bed.

"That's why I opened the door," I say quietly. I look out the window and gaze at the familiar scenery. "You know."

I could hear her heart skip a beat in conformation. Wasn't really surprised. Mom did have that weird sense of knowing things.

She wrapped her arms around my shoulders and rested her head against mine. "I know," she confirmed. "I know because of the way you're acting, was how I was when I was rejected."

I nod. "I know you'd been rejected by Alpha Damon," I said. Mom pulled back as if I'd electrocuted her.

She stood wide eyed until sitting down on the bed with me. A hand pressed firmly against her mouth as she studied me. "How did you know? Me and your father never told you or your brother about that."

I could tell I really freaked her out this time. Sighing, I tell her the truth. "Since I was a little girl I saw things that Zach never did. They came to me in my dreams. At least, at the time I thought they were dreams. But then I realized that they were memories of other people's lives."

I walk outside to my balcony and looked at the beautiful sky as they came back to me.

"I saw through your eyes as you watched your mom, Helen, die for you, when you drove to school with your brothers while playing around, when you were bullied, when you were rejected by Damon in front of the whole school, when you ran away, protected Ana, and joined the pack of abandoned werewolves, and became their Alpha. I watched as you grew, and had to return to the place you didn't want to be, and when you and Damon fought. I watched you get kidnapped by Jaxon and deceived by Sabrina and David. You and Bruce escaped to save your pack and Walter's, who is your father. You witnessed his death before your very eyes. You killed every one of them." I sigh. "I've seen your whole life flash before my eyes every single night. Although, I will admit that I'm happy I missed the parts when you and dad did the nasty."

The silence that stretched on felt like a life time. Even if my mom thought I was a creep, I'm still happy I finally told her.

The feeling of arms closing around me is what I didn't expect. I stayed very still as she cried into my back.

"Oh, Bella, I'm sorry," she sobbed.

I could feel myself slowly turning cold. I got out of her embrace and took a couple steps away from her. There was no emotion on my face as I command, "Don't feel sorry for me. Sure, I'm different, but that doesn't mean it's sad."

Her green eyes widened as she shook her head, making her reddiah golden-brown hair fly everywhere. "No, Bella, I'm not saying that it's sad your different. I'm apologizing because I never knew what was really going on with you." Ellie's face falls. "I'm sorry for not being a good mother."
