After what felt like forever he finally rested his forehead against mine and took in big gulps of air. I didn't blame him, I felt the same.

I know the Alpha King used me and treated me badly, but the moment I realized I not only loved him, but was in love with him, all those things no longer cared. He was trying to make me awaken so he could too, and then he would have treated me like a true mate would. I knew all that when I felt what he felt. Although, he didn't really want me to see the inside of him in front of my entire family.

We stared into each others eyes in a heated and passionate stare; nothing else mattered except for us. That one moment when we truly showed our love for each other changed both of us.

"What. Are. You. Doing?!" a voice snarled.

She pulled me back into reality, and I looked around in confusion. "What's everyone staring at?" I wanted to know.

Ellie scoffs. "Why are you with him? Why are you kissing him?"

The confusion turned to an icy anger, and I demanded, "What is your problem?"

She quietly stared at me. "You're his hostage, just like he kept me imprisoned throughout my pregnancy with you and Zach. He threatened your lives."

I nodded. "Yes, the Alpha King did imprison you when you were pregnant with us, but only to protect you which would have protected us," I corrected her.

"You're blinded because he's your mate!" Ellie yelled, taking a step forward. Vincent didn't let go of her hand at all.

"You are the one who's blinded, mom!" I gritted out, the Alpha King squeezing my hand. "You can only see the bad in the Alpha King, but I see the good in him."

"I still don't approve," she insisted.

"You don't have to for me to be with him," I said quietly, calmed down. I shake my head. "But it would be better because I want everyone to be happy. Jane and Gregory didn't approve of Vincent, but you still stayed with him. And so am I, no matter what anyone else says."

"You're so stubborn," she sighs, looking back at Vincent with a serious face.

Shrugging, "I got that from you, at least. Thank the ancestors I didn't get everything from you, though," I sigh in relief.

My mom seriously looked hurt by what I said. Great, now I have to explain myself more.

"It's the truth," I admit. "I choose to be myself and not another person. I think everyone does."

My eyes roam around at all the gathered faces as I grab the Alpha King's hand. I know what I had to do.

"If you don't approve, then that's too bad, because I'm staying with my mate just like any of you would. I will not be around people who don't give second chances."

I held myself high, turning my head to Shadow and nodding at him. He blinked his eyes in acknowledgement.

"We have given that monster enough chances," Vincent said for the first time.

"Well I'll give him as many chances as it takes to help him see that he has value in life! Enough chances to help him become a better person! Because that's how he'll know I truly cared enough about him to stay by his side through all the bullshit!" I yelled forcefully, feeling his eyes on me.

Zach walked out from the back of the crowd and headed straight towards us. He stared at me then the Alpha King, barely nodding to show his support. I literally felt like crying as I threw myerself into his arms.

"I knew you'd have my back," I told him honestly, pulling away and giving him a big smile.

Zach leaned in, whispering, "I'll always stand by your side."
