Finding Little Parker

Chapter 2

After a long night and a lot of wake-up calls from Parker, Jaike and I were now headed out to get supplies. As I headed to get the clothes Jaike went and got toys and bottles, once I had all the clothes (by all I mean enough to fill a whole room).

I went and found Jaike, he was wandering down the aisle slowly looking toys. I could see he was confused on what to buy so I went along and helped him, as he went to grab some toy off the self I said "he is four months old so he needs; stuffed toys, raddles and things he can put in his mouth."

He nodded his head and said, "thank you for the help, this was a bit hard."

I nodded my head "I know, this is all new for me as well. Do you know what helps?"He shook his head so I continued "google before I got up to you in the kitchen holding Parker I googled all these things."

He pulled me into his arms and whispered into my ear "thank you, I thought I was the only one that was totally hopeless in this."

I laughed into his chest "you aren't the only one, mum never won any mother of the year awards so I'm also in the dark about this."

He ran his hands up my back "for someone who hates me you sure help me a lot."

I pulled back and whispered, "I never could quite hate you Jaike, I just hated that you never stopped him from leaving."

His face pulled up into a sour look "he was gone by the time I had awoken for school, Cameron do you think I would have let him leave?"

I shrugged my shoulders thinking about it, that night we had gotten in a fight over Jaike, we both had shared some harsh words. I looked at Jaike "it wasn't your fault he left but at the same time it was."

Jaike looked at me confused "how was it my fault?"

"The night before he left we got into a fight, it was about you...and my feelings for you," I said not looking him in the eyes worried about the reaction I would get from him.

He took a moment to process everything I had just told him "your feelings for me?"

I nodded my head "yeah, surprisingly enough I had feelings for you and your brother, now that's a crazy thought."

He put his finger on my chin lifting my head up so I was now looking at him, he said with his voice shaky "in high school I was in love with you, not just some crush or wanting to shag you, Cameron I was in love with you."

I now have tears in my eyes I asked "he said something to you didn't he, come on Jaike tell me?"

Jaike shook his head "it's been two years Cam, this is just bring up the past."

I shook my head "please I have been holding on to all of this for so long just tell me."

Jaike nodded my head "he left me a note since I got it I have been reading that note at least once a week; I have loved her for weeks but I am now coming to understand that you have loved her for years. The both of you are in the same boat, she has loved you for so long without even knowing it.
Being with her I have seen everything she is willing to let me but with you, I see the spark in her eyes whether she wants to admit it or not she has feelings for you, strong ones at that.
I have done a lot of bad things to you brother and for that, I am eternally sorry there are things I can never make up to you but this I can, I am leaving and I will be gone awhile.
In my place I want you to step in and take my place, show the woman of our dreams everything I can't give her that you can naturally, make her happy.

For a long time I just stood in Jaikes' arms crying finally hearing what I had been thinking this whole time, I whispered to him "it was my fault."
