As soon as I got to the hospital I was rushed to the paediatrician and an OBGYN for an ultrasound. I could see in her face that she was having difficulty locating the baby but when she did my heart stopped...
THUMP, THUMP, THUMP
The baby had a heartbeat, it was still alive. The heartbeat was weak but still there. The paediatrician gently grabbed my hand "we need to get the baby out now Cameron." She calmly spoke to me.
I nodded my head "I need my husband there. Please."
She nodded her head scurrying out of the room yelling behind her "I will get on that, you prepare to have your beautiful baby."
It wasn't long until she came back with Jaike behind her. I pulled him into my arms passionately kissing his as if he had all of the oxygen in the world. I whispered, "are you okay?"
Jaike nodded his head "a cut on my thigh and a nasty bump to my head, let's not worry about that now Cam we need to have this baby."
I nodded my head "he's going to be okay."
Jaike nodded his head "she will." Jaike quickly kissed my forehead before turning to the nurse "we are ready to have this baby."
She then ran off the fetch the doctor and two hours later we had our baby came into this world. When the baby was taken out during to C-section I was anxious at first it didn't cry but then we hear it. The most angelic cry we were ever going here.
***.FLASHBACK TO THE ACCIDENT.***
Jaike's POV
I hung in my chair unable to get out of my seat belt. I turned to look at Cameron and she wasn't there. Something leads me to look at the floor and there she laid. Somehow she had gotten out of the seat belt she now laid asleep on the floor.
I struggled in my seat to try and get released, I started to pull at the seat belt. That's when I heard "Sir I need you to stay clam help is here."
The paramedics strapped Cam to a hardboard removing her from the car. Once she was loaded in the ambulance they rushed her out of here. They didn't say anything, she could have been dead for all I knew.
Rescue then proceeded to cover me in a blanket and breaking the front window. With the window broken they gently freed me from my seat belt loading me in the next ambulance. As they were doing that I heard some cops talking "the other driver blew way over the limit."
I was seeing red. The ambos had taken their attention away from me. I rushed over to the other driver soccer punching him over and over in the face yelling "my pregnant fiance was in the car, you idiot, I might lose them both thanks to you!"
Before I could do any real damage I had some officers pull me away from the driver. The older man yelled at me "Mr Knight you are lucky you are in shock and scared otherwise I would have arrested you for assault."
I nodded my head profusely "I am sorry but I heard that he was over the limit and I got so mad. You have to understand that is the love of my life, my family."
He nodded his head understanding "I lost my wife and child in an accident fifteen years ago. Please make wiser choices for your family."
I nodded my head walking back over to the ambulance getting inside to be checked over. Luckily for me, they were all minor injuries except for my head I had a concussion.
Not long after arriving at the hospital I had a nurse pull me into a room informing me that Cam needed to have the baby now or we might lose him. The first thing I noticed when I got in the room was Cameron. I could see how scared she was.
I quickly walked over to her placing my lips on hers giving her a longing kiss I have been waiting for.
***PRESENT TIME***
The baby was then handed to Jaike after the umbilical cord had been cut. He brought the baby up to my chest letting me have a look Aideen Elizabeth Knight, our little baby girl.
I slowly took our little girl in my arms quietly shushing her rocking her back and forth. Jaike ran his finger on her cheek "she is perfect Cameron, our little Aideen."
Not long after giving birth the doctors had me in the maternity ward with my husband and my little daughter. Mum and Parker had also joined us, he was eager to meet his little sister. I had Parker sitting between my legs and Aideen in my arms together we were holding her. Right now I was thanking whatever doctors that we're giving me medication because I was so far having minimal pain.
******ONE WEEK LATER*****
Today was mine and Aideen's first day home and I was so nervous about being alone without the nurses also helping me through the nights. They had done so much for us whilst on my stay there. Aideen was perfect and Parker was the best big brother we could wish for.
As I stepped foot in the house Aideen and I were welcomed with close friend and family all welcoming us home. It was great to be home though, away from the stale sheets and disinfectant smell that remained forever in the hospital. As I walked further into the house my husband stood talking with my mum with Parker resting in his arms. Jaike glanced over to me smiling then I knew I was home and that is where I want to be and nothing would change that. To think none of this would have happened if it was for us finding little Parker.
