Michael's P.O.V.
Our eyes locked as she finally opened hers. Something in me wants to get lost inside those twinkling eyes of hers and I can't just figure it out. It's like something in me - a part of me - wants to caress her - to be with her.
I continued to rub my thumb over her knuckles, listening to her. "---nothing about it, obviously, or they would have insisted to leave him right from the start. They've told me to--"
Something's wrong, I can feel it. I can sense the tense and anger - the cravings.
Not again, I thought, not this time - not in front of her, please.
"leave him a couple of times though. I just didn't listen. I---"
Feeling the same pain whenever I'm about to change, I winced, pulling away my hands.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
I looked down, away from her, not able to let her see my eye colour change or she might freak out. I looked at my hand as my skin started to look paler.
Now, this one is something I cannot hide from her.
"Did I say something?" She asked. There was a worried tone in her voice.
"No, I," I said but sounded like I'm growling at her. I shook my head and tried to control myself as I said calmly; "I'm sorry. I'm just... what?"
"Are you okay?" She repeated. Soon I felt her near me as she reached for my forehead. "Your temperature is normal. But you're paler."
"I," I started.
I don't wanna scare her, I told myself, don't scare her.
"Whoa, Michael, I was looking for you," a familiar voice said.
Help me, Calum, I thought.
"Oh, shit, man," he rushed to my side, almost pushing Kelsey out of the way. "What happened?"
"Calum," I muttered, grabbing his arm.
Do something, Calum, I thought.
"I don't know," Kelsey said, addressing him. "He just... he was okay... then he... he started to... is he sick?"
"What's heppening here?" Another one said.
"I don't know, Sam," she said. I felt a hand pat me on the shoulder.
"What's your name?" Calum asked as he swung my arm around his shoulder.
"Kelsey," she said.
"I'm Calum," he chuckled. "Cute name. You're cute. He likes you."
"Sorry?" She asked.
What the fuck, Calum?!
"Nothing," he launched. "He's just sick and needs to take his medication. It was nice meeting you, Kelsey. Bye!"
Then he was dragging me out of the cafe. Still having a little control over myself. I tried to play along and act like I was sick. He helped me to the car before running around and starting the engine.
The moment we drove off, I sighed in relief, opening my eyes. I checked myself on the mirror. My right eyes was still black but my skin is now normal.
"You controlled it," Calum started, exclaiming. Then he chuckled. "You can fucking control it!"
"What?" I asked, looking at him, raising my eyebrow.
"I can hear your thoughts, and, at the same time, hear your demon," he explained, grinning at me. "It was battling your angel, trying to take over you. But you controlled it and you haven't turned into it. Just look at your goddamn eyes! It's clear now!"
I checked myself again. He was right - both my eyes were back to normal.
"Of course, I'm right," he rolled his eyes, laughing, as he turned left.
"This is my first time," I admitted, smiling. "Wow! It's... I don't know... I was..."
"It's her," he chirped happily, cutting me off. "But, honestly, you scared her to death. She was panicking. Doesn't know what to do."
"What?" I asked, confused. "How'd you say it was her? Can you also hear her thoughts?"
"You don't have to be an angel or something to read an expression, so, no," he said sarcastically then he burst into fits of laughter. "But you haven't changed. You still think unconsiously. Even to yourself you don't have a hold on your thoughts."
"What?" I repeated, more confused.
"I can hear four thoughts from you now," he continued. "One is your demon. Second, I can hear your thoughts that you want me to hear. Like when you said help. Third, I can also hear your thoughts that you are most likely not addressing to me. Thoughts that are for you only. Like, let's see... when you were curious about who patted you on the shoulder. And it was Kelsey, by the way."
"What's the last one?" I asked, cutting him off.
"Oh, that's the tricky one," he chuckled. "But when I'm talking to you, I get my confirmation whether it's something you're not aware you were thinking of or not."
"What?" I raised my eyebrow. "You mean to say I'm thinking of something and I'm not even aware that I was thinking of it?!"
"Exactly! Tricky, ei?" He chuckled. "Like how you like her."
And before I knew it, we were already in front of my house.
I opened the door and was about to step foot outside when he spoke up.
"Hmm, Michael," he called.
"Yeah?" I looked back at him.
"Think about it, okay?" He said.
"Okay," I said slowly, not sure what he was talking about.
"You do like her and that's the problem," there were worries in his voice. "I think your unconscious thoughts trigger the demon."
"How?" I asked, my eyebrows knitting.
"Your demon likes her, I just know," he said seriously. "She's both the danger and in danger."
