"The good physician treats the disease; the great physician treats the patient who has the disease" --William Osler

It's been a week since I became a slave. A whole week of captivity. Along with my own work, Andrew made sure I had most of the Council's work to do, too. As the work that was given to me grew, so did the long nights. I was sleep deprived, barely had time for food, and I most probably looked like a mess due to the constant running around Andrew had me do. I was tiring down, but I would not let him have the satisfaction of making me crack. I knew he was waiting for me to show a sign of breaking, but I refused to show any.

Today, I had to clean his room for him and that's why I was here. Cleaning Andrew's room was not on my agenda for Saturday morning's but did I have a choice, no. I climbed on top of the ladder and dusted his bookshelf and fan. His room was huge, at least triple the size of mine and that was saying something. His windows stretched from the ceiling down to the wall and he had black and gray curtains hanging on the sides. His bed was black, his bookshelf was white, his rug was gray, basically, white, gray, and black were the only colors seen in his room.

Suddenly, someone abruptly opened the door and as I looked over I felt myself falling. I squeezed my eyes shut as I lost my balance but when I landed, I felt tingles instead off hurt. I opened my eyes and regretted it immediately. I stared right into the pools of darkness that were right beneath me. I felt paralyzed, unable to breath, talk, move. I was lost, completely and terribly. Then the tingles blasted into sparks. I felt them all over my body, like something was binding me to the man laying just beneath my body.

Then, the dark pools grew darker, if that was possible. All of a sudden, they were looking down at me. The movement made the sparks grow into fire as his body touched mine with more force. Then, his face grew closer to mine, his breath and my breath mingled together in the space between us. My whole body had come alive in excitement, in a feeling I've never felt before. And then, as soon as his lips brushed mine, they were gone.

"Hey!" Zak glided in through the door as if this was his room. "What are you guys doing on the floor?"

Thank god for Zak coming in, but the tingles remained and continued to torment me. I felt a constant buzz in the air, giving me a feeling of lightheaded-ness. I knew I needed more sleep, this was all Andrew's fault.

"What are you doing here?" Andrew scowled at Zak.

"I came to visit my buddy." Zak said as he put his arm around Andrew's neck.

Andrew's scowl grew, "Since when did we become buddies?"

"When you agreed to heal me."

"Huh?"

"Clearly, you healed me because you care!"

"That has nothing to do with me healing you."

"Then why would you? Don't tell me you're shallow enough to do all that for a deal."

"Well, it's too bad that I am."

"The Andrew I knew isn't the person whose standing in front of me."

"Well I guess we have something in common then. You as well as I abandoned him."

"I never abandoned him!"

"Then where were you all those months?"

Silence. Zak had no answer. This annoyed Andrew more. I wanted an answer for it, myself. I know he was out recruiting, but why especially our school? It was so far away and really small to the point that students of that school just went and found local jobs or got married and settled down early. Though I'm glad I was saved by that fate by Zak finding our school, but still it bothered me why he specifically came to look for our school. Called me paranoid, but for a while I felt eyes on me and now I could tell that they were Zak's. I needed to know more about this and why Zak did what he did. There was only one solution and for that, I needed the help of the last person I wanted to ask for anything from because Zak wasn't about to spill anytime soon or ever, for that fact.
