"Wait, weren't you and Tia together for a while before? Why didn't you have to take her dad's quiz then?" I suddenly remembered.
"That was unofficial," he replied.
"Oh."
Unofficially dating. You know those memes about Asian parents and how they insist that all their kids do in school is study and how they are not allowed to have boyfriends? Yup, it's real.
Gemma with her perfectly compatible boyfriend were unofficially together from high school till after they graduated from college.
All her mom knows is that this guy courted her before, but she rejected him and then when they went to different universities, they lost touch. When in reality, the guy's university is literally directly across her's and they have lunch together and they also sometimes take the bus to their respective homes together.
And her mom only found out, because she accidentally left her laptop open on the dinner room table and her mom borrowed it for a second to check her email. Lesson learned? Always lock your computer when AFK.
But since Gemma already graduated from college and working, her mom was cool with it. Although we all suspected that her mom has suspected all along. After all, moms always seem to know these things.
Like how my mom have always known about Ellie even though I never told her about it. I overheard her telling one of my gossipy aunts once. Although it's not as if I was purposely hiding it from her. And also Ellie drops by whenever we're both in the country armed with coffees and doughnuts and once sushi for my entire fambam. So... yah.
So I suspect that Tia's father probably suspected something too.
"You don't have anything else to say?" he asked.
"Nope."
