Part 7

The two men continued to struggle with whatever was inside the trunk. My heart began to pound. Something in my gut was telling me that I shouldn't be seeing what was happening before my eyes. The clean shaven man walked up to the trunk, threw his cigar into the lake; raised up his cane and began beating on the object that was in the back of the trunk repeatedly. I stood there watching hoping that whatever it was wasn't human. The clean shaven man continued until something red splattered all over his face. The site of that made me jump causing me to almost trip over a rock that was embedded in the the ground. I gained my composure, repositioned myself and continued watching the brutal attach. I knew I should have left; because at that point it was no doubt in my mind that it wasn't "someone" in there, but my curiosity just wouldn't let me. The clean shaven man reached into his shirt pocket,grabbed his handkerchief, wiped his cane and face off, said a few words to the two guys, got back in the car and pulled off. Still watching, the two men grabbed a black sheet that was in the trunk laid it on the ground, grabbed what seemed to be weights from a dumbbell, and a long iron chain out of the trunk and sat it beside the black sheet. The two men then carefully reached inside to retrieve Jane or John Doe. "This was a set up". I thought to myself. "They knew exactly what they were going to do." The two men placed the body on top of the black sheet; wrapped it up like a mummy ,then wrapped the chain around the body with the dumbbell attached. The two men picked the body up struggling more this time. The weight from the dumbbell added more resistance as they wobbled towards the ledge. Once they reached the ledge they swung the body back and forth and tossed it into the lake. The body began to sink. I started panicking so I turned around and ran back towards the resort where Zoo's father party was. The grass was a little slippery; so I slowed down so I could make it back up the small hill all while trying to stay unnoticed. Almost at the top , I looked back to see if they were gone. I saw the car still parked but I didn't see the two men in sight. "Shit". I whispered to myself. Finally up the hill I picked back up the pace. I knew that the resort was just around the corner. I ran as fast as I could . Once at the resort I saw Zoo standing outside the door talking to someone.

"Zoo" I called out

"Ava where have you been"? He said

Zoo must have noticed that there was something wrong by the look on my face.
" Ava what's wrong"? Why are you breathing so hard"?

"Zoo I think I just witness a mur......"

Just before I could finish what I was about to say, the man that Zoo was talking to walked up and stood next to Zoo smiling.
"Ava this is my dad" Zoo said.
"Nice to finally meet you young lady. My son has told me so much about you.

"Beep beep" beep"
I was awakened by the noise from the heart monitor. My vision was blurry but I was able to make out the figures of people surrounding me.
"Is she awake"I heard a familiar voice call out.
"Ava baby how are you feeling? My mom softly whispered in my ear.
"Mommmm where am I "? "Wants going on"? I said confused
" You fainted while you were at Zoo's father birthday party." "Do you remember? "
"Ma I don't remember anything.... and how did I faint". I said.
" According to Zoo you were dancing all night. " "He said his mom kept the both of you on the dance floor alllll night long." She said laughing.

"Wow are you serious." "I feel so embarrassed". "Where is dad"? I asked

My mom let out a soft sigh and held her head down.

"Where is he ma"? I asked again.

"Ava your father didn't want you to attend that party with Zoo tonight and when we received the phone call that you were in the hospital he went ballistic." "He was afraid that someone at the party did something to you ." "I had to calm him down so I could explain to him what happened." "He still wasn't going for it", so I got in my car and drove here as fast as I could". " I don't know what's going with that man" "Maybe he's just afraid of his baby growing into a young women." She said as she leaned in to kiss my forehead.

The nurse walked into the room
"Ok Ms. Adams you should be discharged as soon as your IV is empty"."You were very dehydrated when you got here".
"Let me check your vitals and then I'll say about 10 minutes Dr.Jay will be in here to take another look at you before you go".
"Ok thank you I said as I sat up for her to check me blood pressure.

We got home at 3am. I was extremely tired. When me and mom walked into the house dad was sitting on the couch sleep with his gun in his hand.

"Frank"! My mom yelled out startling the shit out of my dad.

"What"! He yelled.

"What the hell are you doing Frank?!". She said.

He stood up looking confused then look at his hand finally recognizing that he was holding his gun. He looked at me and I saw disappointment in his eyes.
"I'm sorry baby my father said as he gently put his gun back into its case.
"It's ok dad I'm alright." "You don't have to worry".
My father walked towards me and my mom, grabbed us both and held us in his arms.
"I'm sorry". He said whispering

"Ok let's all go to bed....it has been a loooong night. My mom said.

As I laid in bed I worried about my father. He didn't seem to be his self and I just couldn't understand.
