I ran to my room to retrieve the house phone. My cellphone had died on the way home from the mall and I was extremely anxious to call Zoo. I dialed his cellular number and waited for him to answer but it went to his voicemail.
"Hey Zoo its Ava give me a call." I said anxiously.

I placed the phone down on my night stand and plopped down on the bed. My mind was racing a million miles a minute. This can't be real I thought to myself.

I was awaken by the smell of my mom's good cooking. Mama must be throwing down" I thought to myself as I jumped out of my bed, heading for the kitchen.

"Ma what you making"? I asked as I stood in the kitchen doorway.

"Fried chicken, cabbage, corn bread......" before she could finish what she was saying I was already in the kitchen lifting lids. "Girl get your hands out of my pots". " Dinner will be ready in just a minute" she said while popping my hand.
"Maaaa" I shouted.
"Maaaa nothing, get your behind out of my kitchen." I blew my mom a kiss and headed for my room. As I made my way down the hallway, I heard the house phone ringing in my room. "Zoo"! I shouted as I sprinted down the hall remembering that I had been waiting for him to give me a call. "He...hello" I stutter as I answered the phone halfway out of breathe. "Hello, Ava?" "You alright"? "Ive been trying to call your cell" Zoo said.

"I know, its dead." I replied. "Zoo, I need to talk to you about something" I said.

"Ok, wassup" he replied anxiously.

'I need to talk to you face to face". My voice began to crack as those words rolled off my tongue.

Wassup Ava". What's going on Zoo asked.
"I'll let you know soon as I see you". "Please don't tell anyone that you're meeting me! "I mean NOBODY". I said aggressively.

"Alright, I'll be on my way in a few. "Let me see what I can say to my mom so she'll let me see the car". He said calmly.

I had told my mom that I had a science project to do and that we had to have a partner so I needed to go to Sean's house so we could work on it together. Sean was like a brother to me. We had known each other since diapers. I've always wondered why we never hooked up back then. He use to hang out at my house alot , we would even go to the mall together. I thought it was very strange that I couldn't put an outfit together but he had a sense for fashion like no other and he kept hisself groomed to a tee .
Come to find out, my women's intuition was right. Sean wasn't checking for me, he was checking for the buff football player across the way, so when he finally came out nobody was surprised.
After getting the ok from my mom I  fixed me a small plate and headed for the door.

Zoo had arrived maybe 10 to 15 mins later. I had been pacing back and forth on Sean's front porch hoping that he wouldn't come out the house to be nosey. Gods knows I didn't need anyone ease dropping.
When he got out of the car I lit up like a little kid. "Umm this boy looks sooo good"
I thought to myself as I tried my best to cover up my face so he wouldn't notice me blushing. I always tried to play it cool since day one, although it never seems to work.

"So what's up"? "What you got to tell me that's was sooo important?"
He had walked up the front steps with so much swag. He was rocking a blue Nike track suit and a fresh pair of Nike's

"Zoo" i said looking scared as I popped a squat on the steps.

"What's up Ava?" "Tell me what's going on."He asked while leaning up against the stair rail looking down at me.
"Zoo, what I'm about to tell you isn't easy to say at all". I'm not sure how you're going to take this but I have to tell you. I stared down at the steps trying to find the right words to say.
"Ava, what's wrong?"  He said as he sat down next to me reaching for my chin.

"When I tell you this.....I know that this will change our relationship. I said while staring into his eyes."

"I promise it won't Ava". "Unless....your cheating on me". He said while laughing trying to ease the tension.

"Boy hush, I replied smacking his hand off of my face. "But seriously.... Zoo....ummmm......it's about your father........I ......think I saw him......I think I saw your father murder someone.
I looked away because I was afraid to see the look on Zoo's face.
"Omg, what did I just do I blurted out". "Maybe I'm just tripping"! I yelled out as I stood up with my face in the cup of my hands. I felt ashame.

Zoo quickly got up and pulled me into his chest. Honestly I was afraid because I know had that been him telling me that he possibly witness one of my family members murder someone, I would flip out because I don't play about my family and making accusations like that  is very serious.

"Ava calm down"! "Are you sure it was my father"? "When did this happen?" He questioned.

"The night of the party Zoo"! "When I went outside I decided I would go and chill at the canopy to get some fresh air, when suddenly two cars pulled up". "First, two muscular men got out the car, then next another guy got out of the other car. The last guy that got out of the car walked up to truck and started hitting on something in the car with his cane. I didn't know exactly what it was until I saw blood splatter all over his face and the two guys pull the body out of the truck.

All Zoo did was stare. He didn't say a word. So I continued on.

"Then they tossed the body into the lake." I cried out.

Zoo still looking calm, gently placed his hand over my mouth because at this point i was beginning to have a panic attack.

"Calm down Ava before somebody hear you." "Just breath everything will be alright". "Just chill". He said as he pulled me back in wrapping his arms around me as I buried my head into his chest sobbing.

That night I laid up in my bed  looking at the ceiling trying to figure out what was going on. Zoo hadn't made a comment about what I told him. He just kept telling me that everything would be ok and to never mention this to anyone. I must admit I was very afraid about what was going to happen next. Even though Zoo didn't physically say that he believed me, something deep down in my spirit told me that he to thought his father was an odd man.
