chapter 4

Cleo's P.O.V -

I choke on water, coughing it up on the sand once I'm conscious again. This is embarrassing, well at least I'm alive. I try to push the lifeguard man away because he's way too close to me and it's bothering me.

"How do you feel?" The lifeguard, that I'm guessing rescued me asks.

"Who the hell are you?" I ask rudely. I'm not in the mood at this point. I didn't even want to come here in the first place.

"Do you remember us?" Lana asks.

"Obviously." I'm ready to go home. I knew I shouldn't have come here.

"Why are you here still?" I look back over to the blonde guy who is less than two feet away.

"I'm the lifeguard. I was just making sure you're okay, it's my job." He fires back, not rudely, but making sure he lets me know that he's the one who saved me in the water.

"Well, I'm fine." I stand up and snatch my beach towel and cell phone, I let my friends know that I'm going to just sit in the car while they swim. I don't want to even look at the ocean, I push and pull the gate to let me out, but it's refusing to open. A hand pushes a button on the side that opens the gate and I look over to see that lifeguard, smirking at me like I'm an idiot for not seeing the button.

"Can I ask you something?" He asks nicely,  following me.

"You just did." I continue walking, but his hand gently grabs my wrist, making me turn around.

"What?" I ask nicely in a sarcastic tone.

"I just wanted to ask you something." He frowns as if he's bothered by my attitude.

Oh well.

"Then, ask." I yank my wrist back.

"The guy that was swimming with you, did he have something to do with what just happened?" He questions me.

"No." I stare at him annoyed.

"You don't have to lie." He raises an eyebrow up.

"I'm not." I shrug and turn around, walking back to the car still wearing this swimsuit that I haven't worn in a while.

"You're really attractive until you open your mouth to say something rude, you know?" He shouts and I flick him off, still walking to my car.
