Paradise (Newt X Reader Book 5)

- Proposal?! -

Atticus refused to let me help with the raft, the guys had just came back with it carrying it over their heads and everyone started adding more and more onto it. I went to pick up a log, which i was more than capable of carrying, extra strength and all but he shouted at me and told me to sit in my chair and watch. i scowled at me a slumped back in my chair. 

"Hey greenie" a sweet soft voice came from behind me, Newt walked in front of me with his hands behind his back

"Hey, what you got there?" i said craning my neck, a smile tugged at his lips. 

"So, I've been a dick recently."

"Newt, it's-"

"No! it's not OK. Georgia has been tearing my attention away and i let her. im sorry greenie" he knelt down in front of me. 

"Newt, i haven't been the best girlfriend in the world either, yeah but im pretty sure i showed her whats up when i crushed her hand"

He laughed "well could you break the other one? she keeps touching me"

"Sure, where is she?" i looked around sarcastically, well i say sarcastically but i was genuinely contemplating crushing her other hand. I wrapped my arms around Newt and nuzzled my face in his hair, i missed him smell and his touch, it was very comforting. 

"I love you greenie" he whispered. i felt him cuddle into my neck and i couldn't help but smile. Georgia walk past and scoffed at me, i stuck my tongue out and winked at her which made her growl. i laughed quietly. "I love you too, now what was in your hand!!!" i said gently pushing him away. 

"well i was on scavenging duty and i came across a tonne of metal scrap and stuff, well in among st it were a pot of paper clips."

"Right?" i smiled, only Newt could find a use for paper clips"

"I made this" he held out his hand and in it was a silver ring. it was three paper clips twisted around each other forming a circle. it was the prettiest thing i'd ever seen since first seeing paradise for the first time. 

"Newt! it's so pretty!" i said going to take hit but he pulled his hand back. 

"So i know this isn't the most romantic setting and honestly i dont think there will ever be a bloody perfect setting for this but, even though they took my memories, i still know what marriage is and-"

"Newt...what-"

"SHH. let me talk. I know what marriage is, and i want to be with you for the rest of my life, i love you so much and i want to prove to you that i love YOU and no one else. so uh" he started to shake slowly and was stuttering his words. it was so awkward and cute at the same time. "well...when...if...we...uh...um...ever make it so that...we're s-s-safe. I want to marry you. I...want...to have a ... family with you"

"Family? like kids?!"

"Yeah...not now! like when we're safe and set up and stuff"

"Did you just propose to me?" i squealed a little too loudly.

"um...yes? ah you're right it's a stupid idea..." he stood up and walked away. 

"HEY! COME BACK HERE!" i shouted at him. he turned around and i ran and jumped on him. 

"Woah" he said giggling and spinning me around. 

"Yes" i whispered in his ear.

"What?" he said wide-eyed.

"i said yes! it's not a stupid idea. It's the sweetest thing ever." i smashed my lips against his and he smiled kissing me passionately back. 

"Nice one Newt" Atticus' voice came from behind me, he winked at him and walked away. 

"Well i have to uh get back to scavenging so uh see you later?" he put me down and kissed me on the cheek. 

"Wait! my ring" i grinned, he replicated it. "Oh yeah" he slid the cool silver metal over my ring finger and it fit perfectly, wasn't too tight or too loose. "It's the perfect size!" i squealed. 

"Well I've held your hands millions of times, i guessed" he kissed my cheek again and smiled as he walked off. 

i slumped back in my chair and stared at the makeshift ring on my finger. "What's that?" her voice made me cringe. "Newt gave it to me" i smiled at georgia but my eyes were still fixed on my hand. "i will have him you know.." she spat. 

"Do you know what? you will never have him because you are a slimy, evil, manipulating, jealous cow who nobody will ever want. when you learn to smile and be nice to people only then will you stand a tiny chance of getting anyone! Newt loves me. get that into your thick skull or i will break your other hand you understand?" i was stunned by the spitefulness of my voice. i was about to apologize when i felt a sting in my stomach. i looked down and there was a knife in my stomach. i grunted and looked her in the eyes. i refused to show my pain even though i could've quite easily fell to the ground. "That all you got" i whispered. "What? why aren't you dead?" she squealed and looked around.

"Dead? you want to kill me? you need to do better than that shank!" i smiled and pulled the knife out of my stomach, i put pressure on the wound with my other hand and held the knife out at her. "Boo!" i shouted, she screamed and ran off. when she was out of sight i fell to the ground, i could feel the hold in my stomach, my face hit the floor and i heard deep voices shouting. "What the hell happened?!" Minho's voice echoed in my ears. "Georgia, shank tried to kill me" i laughed. "Find her" Atticus ordered and then he lifted me up. "Also find Newt." 

"Brenda, we need you" that was the last thing i heard before i passed out.
