I sat on the now walled raft, it was more of a really large crate than a boat but it floated and it stopped anyone falling off of the edge. It was annoying that i could not just shove Georgia off it whenever she got too much. But we all stood on the edge of the shore and looked at the measly few who were staying behind. It felt like paradise all over again, i realized i hadn't thought about everyone back home. can i even call it that anymore? Will i ever see them again? Frypan and the others. I looked down the line and saw Thomas. I saw the same feeling i had in his eyes. Everyone walkedto say goodbye to friends and the people they had spent a long period of their life with. Thomas walked over to me, my feet were planted in the sand.
"Paradise?" he said nudging me softly.
"Yeah"
"Don't worry greenie, we'll see them again one day"
"Do you wish you'd stay back?"
"No, i like it here, Atticus and the others are great and i love being here with you guys, and Brenda"
"That's good."
"Why do you wish you'd stayed?"
I looked to my left and saw Newt looking blank and Georgia talked, and talked. "No...Maybe...kind of. It's just-"
"Newt loves you greenie. i wasn't there for those three years you guys were but when i came up in that box and i saw Newt and the way he looked at you and i knew that one day i wanted to feel like that. He loves you so much. He's just too kind to tell Georgia to piss off" he chuckled. i looked over and Newt again, he looked up and met my gaze smiling. i smiled back.
"I'm glad you came up in the box Thomas. I mean im not glad you had to be in the maze, but you've been an amazing friend to me Tommy. Everything with Newt when he was infected...you were there for me and you didn't give up. Thank you"
"Love you too greenie" he said sighing and clutching my shoulder tightly.
"Right everyone ready?" Atticus shouted.
"Ready for round two greenie?" Thomas said dropping his hand. i wiped away a sneaky tear that left my eye and breathed.
"Let's go!"
