MADISON'S POV

I RAN to the front door, yelling Jeremy's name out. "Come on, Jeremy going to school" I put out my hand for the door knob but someone touched my back."You forgot this" Aunt Jenna said to me as I turned around. She handed me my purse and I smiled at her.

"Thanks" I turned my attention back to my door but someone was in the way. "Madison" I stood with a shocked face as I tried to speak. "Uncle John, hi" I trailed off not knowing why he was here. "Jenna" He said quietly since she wasn't the biggest fan of his. "John you made it" She said with her arms on her hips.

"Said I'd be in by noon" John said while he stepped inside the house. "Oh, what you say and what you do are typically 2 very different things" Jenna said as she watched him walk inside of the house. Jeremy walked down the stairs looking almost as surprised I was. "Uncle John what's up" John stood there holding onto his suitcase and smiled.

"Hey" Jeremy moved passed him and out the front door while I stood in my place. "I had some business in town, I thought a visit was in order" He said as I took a sip of my coffee from my thermos. "How long you staying? I said.

"I don't know yet" John said to me as I nodded. "Hmm ok well, I'm gonna go to school. I'll see you later" I turned around at walked out the front door and shared a quick glance towards Jenna.

I leaned against the lockers as I continued to talk to Matt. "He said his trip is open-ended" Matt smiled at me. "Uncle John,I never really liked that guy" I rolled my eyes at him with a scoff. "Does anyone..." Matt opened his locker and took some books out.

"I am here for moral support if you need me" I continued to think about why Uncle John was in town. "Thanks, I think I'll suffer this one alone, you've been through enough" He looked over at me.

"Thank you, by the way, for just--for everything you did at Vicki's funeral and her memorial, I couldn't have done it without you" I gave him a warm smile. "Of course Matt, I don't know what I would do without you"

"So is Caroline still baking for you guys around the clock? He directed his attention back into his locker. "She finally went to her Dad's, which is a good thing, because my mom was gonna strangle her if she dropped off one more lasagna" I laughed at him while we both walked down the hallway to out next class.

I looked around the classroom until Mr Saltzman pulled out something. "I made a copy of a paper that Jeremy wrote for me, I think you should take a look at it" I leaned over at took the paper and read the front page. While professing all the content Jeremy wrote, I was very concerned.

"Jeremy wrote this? I asked in a soft voice while Mr. Saltzman just nodded at me."He's very clear that he didn't think it was real.." I begun to worry about him, since all of the stuff that has happened, it's taken a strange affect on him. "I really don't know if you're right, because we have done so much to protect him from this but it could be coming back" He just took the paper from me and put in behind his desk.

"So how do you deal with it? I wondered in confusion by what he meant by that. "What do you mean? He looked up at me. "I don't know, with all the lies and secrets, you have to lie to everyone who's important to you" I quickly defended myself.

"It's not safe for them to know the truth, so yes Elena and I keep it from them, but it's only because we love them" He nodded his head and got up. "I think Stefan's a good guy, but at the end of the day he's still a vampire"
